Publisher's summary

An Amazon Charts Bestseller.

A novel of secrets, memory, family, and forgiveness by the bestselling author of When Never Comes.

Lizzy Moon never wanted Moon Girl Farm. Eight years ago, she left the land that nine generations of gifted healers had tended, determined to distance herself from the whispers about her family’s strange legacy. But when her beloved grandmother Althea dies, Lizzy must return and face the tragedy still hanging over the farm’s withered lavender fields: the unsolved murders of two young girls, and the cruel accusations that followed Althea to her grave.

Lizzy wants nothing more than to sell the farm and return to her life in New York, until she discovers a journal Althea left for her - a Book of Remembrances meant to help Lizzy embrace her own special gifts. When she reconnects with Andrew Greyson, one of the few in town who believed in Althea’s innocence, she resolves to clear her grandmother’s name.

But to do so, she’ll have to decide if she can accept her legacy and whether to follow in the footsteps of all the Moon women who came before her.

Great story but...

I loved this book but I had a hard time getting used to the narrators nasally and whispery voice. I initially thought it would pick up after the prolong...but not the case. If the story itself wasn't so good, I would've traded it in.

I am almost 50 and probably not the target audience

This is a story about a girl who fled from her small town due to a community who misunderstood her families special witchiness and pinned a murder on them.
So she goes to New York and focuses on her career. When her grandmother dies and she just forgot to let her know where she lived, she didn’t get wind till months later. Hmmmm……
So in hallmark movie style, she goes home to settle things. She rejects the inheritance; a farm complete with a retail shop, barn and workroom. She refuses to shag the local boy with a great job who has only loved her since forever. And, she wants to liquidate everything to get back to her status job in NYC but not before she finds the true killer of the girls they were blamed for.
On top of that, the narrator makes her sounds whiny at least 50% of the time.
My eyes are hurting from rolling so hard. Girl, snatch up that farm as quick as you can. Housing prices are through the roof and you’re just going to throw that away?
Do not recommend for anyone over 35.

Good story, irritating narrator

The story was compelling and very enjoyable up to the end when it picked up one of the stock plots of the romance genre. But that’s a personal dislike. The bigger problem was the nasal tone of the narrator’s voice. It would haul me out of the story. Very irritating.

Enchanting

I figured out some of the plot and the killer but it was still a great story. I enjoyed the history of the family and Lizzie’s fervor in clearing her grandmothers name and “saving” the farm. I LOVED this book!

A story about truth and acceptance

Beautifully written story about finding the truth that has been long hidden, and in the process finding & accepting yourself. The setting of the story, Moon Girl Farm, sounds like a very peaceful and healing place. Thoroghly enjoyed this story and the characters of Moon Girl Farm.

Great audiobook!

Story line kept me engaged; it was deep, meaningful, yet held mystery. The narrator did an incredible job changing the inflection and tone of the different characters.

I’d read it again...

This is the first book I’ve really enjoyed in a long time. The story is engaging, love the turn of events and the final ending that was long overdue.
