About this listen

The fate of the allied forces lies in the hands of Joanna and the Watsons in the next Daughter of Sherlock Holmes mystery from USA Today bestselling author Leonard Goldberg.

During a critical stage in World War One, the Governor-General of South Africa journeys to London for a meeting of The Imperial War Conference. Days prior to the conference, the Governor-General is scheduled to have an audience at Buckingham Palace at which time a most precious blue diamond will be presented to King Edward as a symbolic gesture of the colonies’ resolute and never-ending allegiance to England.

The flawless blue diamond, with its magnificent luster, weighs nearly 3000 carats which renders it one of the world’s largest and most valuable gems. On the Governor-General’s arrival, he is ensconced at the fashionable Windsor Hotel under the tightest security, with his entire entourage and formidable security team occupying the entire penthouse floor. All entrances and exits are locked down and closely guarded, and no one is allowed entrance after 6 PM.

Despite the extreme precautions, the famous diamond is stolen from the Governor-General’s suite in the middle of the night, with no clues left behind. With Scotland Yard baffled, Joanna and the Watsons are called in to investigate the theft and it becomes clear that the crime is not simply the work of a master thief, but one that could greatly aid the Germans and turn the tide of war in their favor. Time is of the essence and the blue diamond must be recovered before it begins its travels which could cause irreparable damage to the allied war plans.

If you are looking for a holiday gift for a lover of Sherlock Holmes, this is the one you want. "The Blue Diamond" is another winner for Leonard Goldberg. The story has what I was expecting - an intricate plot, characters I care about, and a mystery I couldn't solve (good thing Joanna is up to the challenge.) But there was also a scientific element to the mystery that was new to me and which interested me so much I researched more about it. I can't explain it too much more without giving something away. You won't regret reading for yourself and finding out the answers to the mystery of "the Blue Diamond."

Look no further for a holiday gift

Another great entry in a wonderful series; and my favorite narrator hit the top again. The solution really took a good portion of the story to determine. Highly recommend.

I thought this installment well done and much like the installments before it, had a good mystery told within a well paced story. There was not a lot of character development, but the author allows the characters to carry the story without a lot of scene setting or other “filler” dialog. Overall, I enjoyed the listen.

I enjoy the series

Female Sherlock really produces excellent stories. So close to Sherlock stories. I am approaching the last book, so far, in the series. I am hooked.

storyline superb, narrator excellent!

This narrator is amazing at bringing life to this story !
Joanna is looked to the entire book and making it seem like she has secret abilities to see things no one else does ( I guess they did that with Sherlock as well in the older books ) but they make the watsons seem like they don’t have have a the ability to help Joanna in any way, maybe the author is trying to remake the scenes of Sherlock and Watson. Overall great book

A great story but a bit to much of Joanna being smart
