About this listen

Faith Fairchild turns back the clock to one of the most momentous events of her life: her wedding day. It's 1990, and Faith Sibley is a single young woman with her own catering business in New York City. But a chance meeting with the Reverend Thomas Fairchild is love at first sight, and suddenly Faith is heading north to visit her future in-laws, some of whom are as frosty as a New England winter.

Before she can say "I do," two other mysteries divert the bride-to-be's attention. First, her new assistant, Francesca, appears to be hiding a family secret with roots in Italy. Then her sister, Hope, becomes the target of someone intent on sabotaging her high-stakes financial career. But above all, Faith needs to figure out who is trying to call off the wedding - by eliminating the bride!

Would you consider the audio edition of The Body in the Boudoir to be better than the print version?

I have read several of her books but only listened to this one. I liked listening to this one. It gave me more of a sense of place and time. It was sweet, romantic and had multiple murders. Like having a sweet and savory combined dish as a meal (something else I enjoy). I found this one hard to leave alone because it seems to be the first book of the series and although I've read (and enjoyed) others I never knew how their relationship came to be and that part was enlightening.

This is not a hard core murder and mayhem type of book but it is certainly MY type of book.

I hope you have more of Katherine Hall Page available soon and please, please, please keep the same reader. She was wonderful.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes, because of the combination budding romance and murders seemingly without rhyme or reason.

Which character – as performed by Tanya Eby – was your favorite?

Faith, the central character.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Several, but can't think of one right now.

Any additional comments?

Please have more of her books available soon. Preferably in order since this being the first made such an impression on me. I wish I would have listened to this one before I read the others.

Loved it!

This prequel to the 20 Faith Fairchild mysteries does a wonderful job of letting you know the character before she left New York City for married life in small town Massachusetts. The narrator does an excellent job portraying Faith Fairchild. I found the story very suspenseful and I loved learning all the details of Faith's pre-Massachusetts days. If you are a fan of the "cozy" mystery genre, this series is for you.

One of my favorite mystery series

Where does The Body in the Boudoir rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Fair

Who was your favorite character and why?

Faith, of course.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

She tried to do a New England accent and it came of as a 1930s mobster. I've read all of Page's other books and I wish I had read this one instead of listening.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No

Any additional comments?

I've made a note of this narrator - won't be sucked in again.

Don't listen to books by this narrator.

Any additional comments?

This book was a light, fun listen. Don't expect a great masterpiece or a literary work of art. It is just enjoyable and relaxing. The two "mysteries" in the book were well developed (I didn't solve either until right before they were revealed and my early suspicions were incorrect). It kept my interest and was very enjoyable to listen to as I knit. I was a little worried when I purchased it that it might be a religious book because her husband was a minister but no religion was preached - his job just happened to be a minister. I hope Audible decides to carry some of the other books in this series because I would purchase them.

Just a fun, cute and interesting mystery

I was captivated by Ms Page's first book many years ago. They have always held my interest. Faith is a deeply funny, smart, interesting , and loving woman. I love living her life with her for a few hours a day. It is my way of escaping a sometimes dull life & pretending to be beautiful Faith. Keep them coming Ms Page.
