About this listen

Understand where we came from.

Whether you're an avid student of the Bible or a skeptic of its relevance, The Book That Made Your World will transform your perception of its influence on virtually every facet of Western civilization.

Indian philosopher Vishal Mangalwadi reveals the personal motivation that fueled his own study of the Bible and systematically illustrates how its precepts became the framework for societal structure throughout the last millennium. From politics and science, to academia and technology, the Bible's sacred copy became the key that unlocked the Western mind.

Through Mangalwadi's wide-ranging and fascinating investigation, you'll discover:

  • what triggered the West's passion for scientific, medical, and technological advancement;
  • how the biblical notion of human dignity informs the West's social structure and how it intersects with other worldviews;
  • how the Bible created a fertile ground for women to find social and economic empowerment;
  • how the Bible has uniquely equipped the West to cultivate compassion, human rights, prosperity, and strong families;
  • the role of the Bible in the transformation of education;
  • and how the modern literary notion of a hero has been shaped by the Bible's archetypal protagonist.

Journey with Mangalwadi as he examines the origins of a civilization's greatness and the misguided beliefs that threaten to unravel its progress. Learn how the Bible transformed the social, political, and religious institutions that have sustained Western culture for the past millennium, and discover how secular corruption endangers the stability and longevity of Western civilization.

In a world of absolute confusion and turmoil come peace and understanding through wisdom from above. Vishal completely and clearly explains how all of the foundations, either the government or the climate was created by and maintained by God almighty! so relax God has got this! This brilliantly written and very practical book, shows how God's providence and provision explains all of life's problems. also the answers on how to handle adversity and trials. this book should be taught from high school through the university level. even if you're not a student of the Bible this book will inspire you to want to be one. stop listening to CNN and their sky is falling false prophets, and start listening to the reason the sky was created in the first place, including everything under it!

Insightful

A most enlightening book. It’s dense (in a good way).
Definitely worth your time, especially if you’re unconvinced of the claim that the Bible is the most important book in human history.

Enlightening

First of all, I’m a Christian therefore my review might be bias.

This is a very good book that brings light to several foundations of the west civilization and its links to the Bible. The book, even stretching some connections in a few parts, proves how the Bible and its followers shaped the way the west organizes and values itself. A good history and religious book.

loved this look on the Western World

He may be from India, but Vishal may have the opportunity to see the west in a way we never could because we have lived in it.
This very fresh take on how Bible affects and effects our daily life is fantastic.
Gave me a whole lot to think about and a whole lot to read so I can understand more.
EVERYONE SHOULD READ THIS BOOK!!!

Compelling

This is a ompelling look at world history from a non American view. The author is native to India and compares his own culture and history with other major cultures in the world in order to show the influence that the Bible has had in developing multiple aspects of western culture.

Long overdue answer to revisionist culture

I don't often write reviews, but this book deserves every star it gets. It was amazingly detailed, thorough and insightful. It tells the story of how the Bible, Biblical morality and Christianity are at the heart of why Western Civilization became the greatest culture the world has ever known. Also includes a word of warning for the counter-culture that is trying to rewrite history and destroy everything that has made our world successful and providential. The author is from India but is also a Christian. He was raised in India, left for the West to become educated at universities but then returned to his homeland to minister to the desperately poor of India as a missionary. His fresh take on Western Civilization and culture comes through the eyes of a non-Westerner with a great appreciation for what the Bible has done to advance the prosperity and hope of the world. He has seen first hand the corruption and waste of other cultures and his walk through history will give you a new appreciation for your own culture and what God has accomplished through those who were faithful to His word down through the centuries. Highly recommended.
