About this listen

The Brave Japanese is the autobiographical account of an Australian who fought against the Japanese in the desperate struggle to save Malaysia. Ken Harrison’s experiences as a prisoner of war take the listener to the work camps of Singapore, to Thailand “Death Railway” and to the dockyards of Nagasaki. His journey culminates in a visit to the bomb-devastated Hiroshima long before the arrival of the occupation forces.

The book is very well written and interesting.
I, myself, am a survivor of a women’s concentration camp in the former Dutch East Indies, now Indonesia.
I was 4 years old when my mother and I were interned and 8 years old at the end of the war and we were free.
It is amazing how many things make an impression on a young child.
So many situations similar as described in the book.
I HIGHLY recommend listening.
The author and narrator are outstanding.
My sincere thanks to all involved for making this book available, JK.

I wish you'd written other books, this is so well written.
The subject matter is an old one for myself, and I would not have started this book, except for the curiosity of the title. The authors judgment that the Japanese are very brave, soldiers, invites, thoughtful consideration.

Wonderfully crafted remembrance written by a very insightful author. Wonderful narration. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
