Publisher's summary

Sawyer Tom is a tall Texan with an easy smile. It masks his rough start in life.

Now destiny has flipped the story for the baseball phenom, and life’s riches are within his grasp.

But it’s the chance meeting with a beautiful stubborn girl that has him reaching.

Bristol Swift is the only daughter in a Memphis baseball dynasty. What stands out most though, is her apathy to the game and its players.

As far as she’s concerned, her medical practice deserves all the attention.

Funny how a look, a touch, one dance, can change two worlds.

The one pulled it all out of me! Another favorite!

This one brought it all out of me! The tears, the overwhelming love felt and some happy, laughing times. This story blew me away..it is soo good! My favorites are the Little Thanks game, the proposal and that epilogue?? Brought tears to my eyes. I just love everything about this one.

Bristol is a firecracker who hates baseball and Sawyer, a pitcher, wants her and does everything he can think of to win her over. That includes time spent with her family which makes for some laugh-out-loud moments. This incudes but is not limited to..the bowling incident, the pickle test…and OMG the Halloween parties!! I really could not get enough of Bristol’s grand/parents and brothers and spouses.

Overall this is a WINNER! I highly recommend if you enjoy wacky families, sweet and sincere characters and like a feel good story. I did listen to this on audio. Aaron Shedlock and CJ Bloom are the perfect narrators for this one. They really brought this story to life.

This one has heart and soul coming out of it. It pulls on my heart stings

Finding home!!

Leslie Pike does a wonderful job emphasizing the importance of family and friends in The Cannon! Sawyer and Bristol’s relationship starts off as a slow burn that quickly becomes a sizzling romantic entanglement!! I loved the open honesty that Sawyer willingly gave and his persistence when pursuing Bristol!! I really enjoyed how Bristol shed her reserved nature and became more outgoing when exposed to new experiences. I liked that Bristol’s family embraced Sawyer and supported him throughout the difficult situations that arose. Aaron Shedlock and CJ Bloom were fantastic narrators and made their story come to life in my minds eye! The best part of this storyline is that Sawyer and Jude finally found their true home!!I look forward to more of this series!!

Love, family, HEA, with surprises

This book gave me all the feels and I still have them. One of the best books I have listened to in a while. This book starts with Bristol Swift, sister to Brick and Atticus that we loved from the first two books in this series. Bristol is not a baseball fan so when the hot pitcher, Sawyer Tom takes a shine to her she is resistant at first but he has patience and determination and their love story is a fantastic one. I loved everything about this book, the characters are all likeable and loveable and just felt like family. I felt as if I were part of this Swift family, taken into their love and embrace just like Sawyer was. The story is well thought out and entertaining. There are surprises and moments when you wonder what will happen. You feel the love of this family and I was excited for Sawyer and Bristol to find their forever.

Aaron Shedlock and CJ Bloom were amazing to listen to. They kept me captivated from beginning to end and there is a fantastic epilogue that brought tears to my eyes as well as goosebumps.

This book was beyond 5 stars for me. I loved it and highly recommend it. It is a stand alone so you don't have to have read/listened to the first two but they are also great so if you haven't I suggest you do as I enjoyed them too.

Oh Sweet Sawyer!

The Cannon by Leslie Pike is a sweet romance that follows Sawyer Tom and Bristol Swift. This was my favorite of the Swift series ( I know I said that about The Closer BUT this time I mean it!)

CJ Bloom was a fantastic Bristol. She was strong, reliable and so easy to love.
Aaron Shedlock as Sawyer was the perfect swoony southern gentleman.

Overall I really loved this story, the love the Swift clan has for one another, the love they have for Jude, and the all-around wholesome low angst, warm and fuzzies that Ms. Pike brings to this series. I will definitely be listening again and again.

Favorite of the series

This one was unexpected in a great way!

I liked the other audiobooks in the series, and I started this one expecting a quick, low angst story. I’m not a fan of relationship drama so I was a little worried about how much longer this book was compared to the previous ones in the series, but I really loved the direction the story took. It’s so much more than girl meets boy. It addresses some tough subjects, but I loved that the complexity in the story isn't based on relationship drama. It’s also great to see the evolution with the rest of the Swift family members from the previous books. This was my favorite of the series.

I enjoyed the audio version. Aaron Shedlock and CJ Bloom did a fantastic job with the narration and really enhanced the story.

I received a copy of the audiobook at my request, and the opinions here are my own.

4.5 stars for series conclusion & great narrators

The finale of the Swift Series, it was a great conclusion and by far my favourite of the three!

I really, really enjoyed the storyline, with Bristol, the Swift Sister, trying to deny her attraction to the (much) younger new star pitcher Sawyer, who relentlessly pursues her when he's first traded to the team. He plays on the Memphis team with her brothers Atticus and Brick, new to Tennessee from Texas, called The Cannon for his incredible pitching arm.

When Bristol finally gives in and Sawyer gets his chance, he proves that he is the perfect man for her, with her particular issue and his background blending perfectly together. Sawyer brings up a cause near and dear to his heart, and Atticus and Brick convince him that as a baseball player, he needs to commit to a charity, so this cause is one that he commits to, bringing a lot of children into their lives, with one in particular that he and Bristol become fond of. This child, Jude, is more than just a child that they like and spend time with, and becomes quite central to their lives and their family, and is just an adorable little boy all around, with a pivotal moment that may actually change Sawyer's whole history at one point.

Many appearances by the rest of the family, as we met in the two previous series installments, so it's not critical but very helpful to read the previous two books first.

Absolutely fantastic story, with brilliant but different narrators picked this time (different from books one and two, where the two brothers and two sisters-in-law are narrated by the same in each), with a great fave, Aaron Shedlock voicing Sawyer, and another long-time fave, CJ Bloom, voicing Bristol. I always know what I'm going to hear when I see these two names attached to any project, and I know that I'm absolutely going to love it. Pure perfection, and a huge 5-stars to both Aaron and CJ!

I definitely recommend this 4.5-star read/listen to everybody, especially lovers of sports/baseball romances, reverse age-gap, foster child situations going right, big twist surprises (good ones), and just generally beautifully written and narrated romances.

I received an advance listen copy of this book from Leslie Pike and Home Cooked Books, and this is my honest feedback.

tough love

Sawyer’s life has been a tough one. Foster care since he was three, and separated from his older sister. Now he is a professional baseball player and everything is possible for him. Since he meets Bristol Swift and her stubbornness to refuse him. But he is used to play hard to get what he wants, and he wants her. Will their lives mix together and bring them the joy and happiness they deserve? A tough journey of disappointment, hurt, new beginnings and new people that will bring then together forever. A great audiobook, CJ and Aaron make an spectacular job with the emotions and feelings of all the characters. Great end to the Swift’s saga.

The Cannon

Sports romance for the win!
Bristol and Sawyer can't deny the chemistry. Age is just a number to these two and I loved that it wasn't made a big deal.
Sawyer is a famous pitcher and is recognize a lot, but I love that he makes time for the fans.
The heart wrenching emotions this book give you but with the heartwarming feels it balances out but you have to go through it.
I feel like this book centers around family and how it blended and everyone is included. It gives you that feeling like no matter what everything will be ok even dealing with the heavy that life brings.

Aaron Shedlock is a favorite of mine, he really give voice to Sawyer. And CJ Bloom is incredible with female voices whether they are young or old she gives them just the right tone.
