About this listen

Samantha Henderson's smooth-talking husband, Gunn, the King of Sales, is offered a once-in-a-lifetime job opportunity. The proposal: come aboard a startup company as national sales strategist and reap the enormous rewards - a $250,000 salary, private schools for the kids, a beachside estate complete with cook, caretaker, and limo driver.

Sam can hardly believe the offer. It all sounds too good to be true. And it is. It most certainly is. Make no mistake: the Hendersons are in big trouble. Their lives are about to be sliced open and placed under a microscope manned by a psychopath.

Crafted by a master of psychological suspense, comes a slightly twisted and wholly terrifying new thriller . . . a dizzying tale of sin and its dark consequences in the cat-and-mouse tradition of A Kiss Before Dying and Double Indemnity.

Good story bad narrator

I read the physical book when it first came out and loved it. I was glad to find the audio version. However, the narrator was not great. His voice was eh. He might be better for something with less emotional range because he didn’t hit any emotionality once.

Enough twists and turns to make you dizzy

I did not think I would like this book at first. The reader does not have a voice that I like, so I was a little put off by that. I also found I was having a hard time finding a character that I could like. The wife is really the only person to relate to at all. Give this one a chance and you will be suprised by it. It did not take long for it to grab me and then I didn't want to put it down. I got my credit's worth on this book!

Best thriller I ever read!

Would you consider the audio edition of The Caretaker to be better than the print version?

I loved this book (I only listened to audio and not print) better than any other thriller and I have read ALL the great thrillers from Patterxon, Deaver, Sanford, etc. This book made my pulse race, kept me up at night and kept me guessing till the end. I wish Simpson would write more but I haven't seen anything unless he has a pseudo.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Caretaker?

All of it but mostly that it kept me guessing all the way till the end

Which character – as performed by Dale Hull – was your favorite?

I liked them all

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Then ending was great!

Could of used the abridged version!!

Not riveting or suspenseful at all.
Bad choice of a narrator...One of the main characters is suppose to be a good-looking sexy man but the narrator makes the character sound like a 55 year old fat salesman in a polyester suit.
