About this listen

Beautiful, haunting, and grotesque, The Carp-Faced Boy and Other Tales offers stories reminiscent of traditional Japanese folktales alongside contemporary horror fiction. Matsuura’s unique voice, in its poignancy and lightheartedness, is unforgettable.

From the Introduction by Bram Stoker Award Winner Author Gene O'Neill: "I have Thersa Matsuura’s name underlined on the side of my fridge. I will watch for her byline. As I’m sure, you, the reader of this collection will, too."

my favorite Podcaster

I like how one of the characters makes a cameo in one of the other stories

Well Written Original Stories

well written & presented, I follow Uncanny Japan so I was excited for this. I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 since I'm aware that these stories aren't for kids but I was a little surprised & put off by the mature language & themes in some of the stories. Great writing & I know there was a lot of love & work put into this but I didn't expect the crude language & profanity (in the one story).
