Publisher's summary

Steve Brixton always wanted to be a detective...until he found out he already WAS one.

It all starts here: The thrilling story of Steve Bixton's first case. Our hero has a national treasure to recover, a criminal mastermind to unmask, and a social studies report due Monday - all while on the run from cops, thugs, and secret-agent librarians.

Since when can librarians rappel from helicopters? Does Steve have any brothers or sisters? If not, then why is this series called The Brixton Brothers? You will solve all these mysteries and many more by the time you finish The Case of the Case of Mistaken Identity.

We think you'll agree: Steve Brixton's first adventure is his best adventure yet.

creative storyline

It is obvious the writer is creative and detailed in his detective storyline. The story is fast paced and will keep a reader engaged. The audio reader/voice is enjoyable to listen to.

My boys love this book

My boys, age 9 and 7, love this book. I must admit that I enjoyed it as well. We listened on a long car ride -- the story opens with a kid (who loves detective stories) assigned a class project on quilting. He goes begrudgingly to the library to check out the only book about quilting, when he is accosted by people wearing dark clothes, jumping through windows and trying to capture him. Thus begins a mystery about how librarians are bigger special agents than the FBI. It is funny, engaging, well-written and more adventure than scary. A great listen for kids (and parents) who want more than Diary of a Wimpy Kid and are well-beyond Encyclopedia Brown.

surprisingly realistic about kid detective books

Just enough danger to keep it from being hokey.
Just enough quirkiness to keep it interesting.
I always suspected there was more to being a librarian than meets the eye.
