Fun Feline Facts

Cleverly written, and very entertaining. The narrator's voice was somewhat flat and didn't express the nature of the story

A must-have for those who are owned by their cat

Written "as told to Zina Marie Uhl" by her cat this book is an amusing take on life and human interaction from a cat's perspective.

Written superbly and narrated perfectly in a totally suitable mellifluous cat drawl by Xina the book, (I was sent it as a review copy), is hilarious and will absolutely ring true for anyone who is owned by their cat or is about to be. You realize cats keep us as pets, right?

Although perilously short this is a great audiobook for a commute and doesn't suffer despite the brevity of it - I would have listened were it twice as long. It contains some laugh-out-loud lines which will make anyone watching you listen using headphones think you've gone completely crazy. It'll definitely brighten up your morning.

I'm looking forward to more from Xina.

Screwtape Letters for Cats

(Firstly I will note that I got given the Audible version of book for free, however I have tried to not let that affect my review)

Much in the same way that CS Lewis "didn't write" the Screwtape Letters, merely collected and wrote down the words of skilled demon Screwtape, Uhl "didn't write" this book, but merely collected and translated the thoughts of her cat. The book is a letter of training, from one cat to another, teaching them the finer points of their human's strange behaviors.

The book is a lot of fun, although very short - clocking in at 45 minutes as an audiobook. If you have a cat you may know the "ugh, what are you doing?" look they give (mine does at least). This book is written in that tone for most of it, a general "yes, your human will do this. No, I do not know why" type thing. There is advice for avoiding unpleasant things (baths!) too. So nice of the older cats to train the younger ones to yowl and scratch.

I would probably give this book a 3.5 /5, but the audible system doesn't allow that so 4 stars it is.

The narrator was fine. She spoke a little quicker than most meaning i actually had to slow down my playback speed a little to pace it with other books, but that was fine. The humour was carried in the inflection, although I found the inflection to be a little too subtle at times. At times pushing the sarcastic or exasperated sound into the reading would have worked better. But still in no way a bad reading.

Humorous feline perspective regarding humans

Would you try another book from Xina Marie Uhl and/or Xina Marie Uhl?

yes.

Would you recommend The Cat's Guide to Human Behavior to your friends? Why or why not?

I would to a cat owner and or cat lover. If some one isn't into cats then this is not for them.

What aspect of Xina Marie Uhl’s performance would you have changed?

I can't specially say.

Do you think The Cat's Guide to Human Behavior needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

No it is fine as a short listen.

Any additional comments?

This is a humuorous short for cat lovers and people who are owned by their cats. It is sort of like the recent Friskies Dear Kitten commercials.

It is humorous, as in smiles and grins but it is not all out funny. A little more work and perhaps some collaboration with other cat owners may of produced an even more humorous treatise.

For Cat Lovers

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Since it is a cute short story and about cats it is definitely worth the listen. If you love cats you will see your cat in the narrative.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Cat's Guide to Human Behavior?

I love the cat's explanation of the counter and the litter boxes. We have those issues at our house.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

I wasn't crazy about the narrator's voice. But that is certainly a personal thing.

Any additional comments?

I was gifted with this book by the author to listen to and review. I want to thank Xina Marie Uhl for that. I enjoyed the book and would recommend other cat lovers listen to it.

I laughed out loud

Despite various reviews with negative comments about the narrator's performance, I purchased this audio book. I'm so glad I did! It literally had me laughing out loud. If you've ever seen the videos on YouTube of the older cat counseling the kitten in a dry monotone voice and love them… then this is right up your alley.

Do *not* let your cat listen

If you like the audio sample, you'll probably like this book, as it continues in much the same vein. There are plenty of LOL moments... even non-cat people may break a smile. While I listened to it in one sitting, I recommend breaking it into a couple of sessions to keep the effect of the humor fresh.

The author isn't the best all-time reader, but her dry, dead-pan delivery is perfectly suited to her book.

(The price is too low to use up a credit... just charge it)

Cute

I was provided this audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review via AudiobookBlast dot com.

I thought the book was cute, however I may have enjoyed it more as a kindle or paperback version. The narrator was not "bad"...but neither was she "good". I feel the narration performance took away from the story. It's a short audio, so if you prefer audio books, it's worth getting.

Funny short story

I received this book from audiobook blast (dot) com in exchange for my honest review.

I found this book to be very entertaining. I do not own cats, but I have friends that have cats and it made me giggle the whole way through. This book honestly reminded me of my Scottish Terrier..they have very similar personality characteristics!

This was a short quick listen. The author narrates the book in a very entertaining manner that keeps you listening. I look forward to listening to more of her books!
