About this listen

A dead Baron. A missing emerald. And way too many suspects.

Amateur sleuth Molly Sutton has her hands full this time! Shut out of Castillac's latest murder case and running out of money, she's praying for a brilliant scheme, or at least some dumb luck to strike. Believing good food can be the solution to almost any problem, she comes up with a culinary idea designed to stave off financial disaster - and finds that even a perfect meal can end up a flop.

As for the poor late Baron, once Molly manages to get inside the château, she quickly pokes her nose where it doesn't belong. But looking for clues and uncovering secrets is a risky business, and this time, Molly ends up with her own life in danger.

The Château Murder is the fifth book in the Molly Sutton Mystery series. If you like mysteries that keep you guessing, a small town setting filled with characters you'll feel like you know, and pastry galore, you'll love Nell Goddin's latest cozy with a dash of psychological intrigue. Put the puzzle pieces together along with Molly and see if you can guess who killed Baron Marcel de Fleuray!

Well plotted and well written cozy mystery!

Any additional comments?

The Château Murder by Nell Goddin is the fifth book in the Molly Sutton Mysteries, which is a delightful cozy mystery set in the French countryside. Molly Sutton is an American who now lives in the quaint village of Castillac after buying an old rundown country house and turning it into a bed and breakfast. Besides her love of cooking and pastries, she is an amateur sleuth who is pretty good at unearthing the truth in murder cases. I really enjoyed this story, which is well plotted and well written. What I loved most is the dialog between the characters as it flows naturally as if the reader is listening in on their private conversations. And the "who did it" caught me completely by surprise!

The story begins with Molly bemoaning the slow season for tourists and thinking of other ways to earn some money. She soon gets involved in the search for a missing emerald after the mysterious death of an aloof Baron. What’s curious is that no one who knew the Baron is sad he is dead; in fact, several suspects are quoted as saying they were glad he was so. Like the first book in the series (the only other Molly Sutton Mystery I’ve listened to so far), it was very entertaining listening to how Molly methodically went through all the many suspects to reach her ultimate (and accurate) conclusion.

Beckett Royce narrated this audiobook and she did a wonderful job. Her narration flows naturally and she is easy to listen to. Beckett really brought the characters to life, using a variety of accents and giving each character their own distinct voice. In short, I definitely recommend this audiobook for fans of cozy mysteries and intend to listen to the other books in the series!

Another mystery solved by Molly!

Love the main character Molly. Easy reading makes for easy to follow while driving and listening. Some books can have too many twists, turns and characters for me to follow while driving. These mysteries I can follow while sharing my attention with the road. Easy listening mystery and I love Molly Sutton the main character.
