Publisher's summary

Baking. It can get a guy killed.

When a retired detective superintendent chooses to take a culinary tour of the British Isles, he hopes to find tasty treats and delicious bakes.…

…What he finds is murder, mayhem, and mystery everywhere he goes.

His dog, Rex Harrison, a former police dog fired for having a bad attitude, does his best to steer the humans in the right direction, but he cannot understand why they don’t just use their noses–the answers are right there if they would just employ their strongest sense!

However, solving a few mysteries won’t get them out of trouble, for there is a master criminal behind many of the crimes they encounter, and they’ve just caught his attention.

Their adventure is getting deadlier with every destination, but these two sleuths are not going to be put off. With Rex’s keen sense of smell and Albert’s decades of experience as a detective, this pair are on the trail.

Or are they being lured into a trap?

One thing is for certain, they had better figure it out soon or they might be the next victims.

thoroughly entertaining

Steve Higgs and his depiction of both his human and his animal characters is delightful! It is very difficult to present the thoughts, etc. of animals and not sound like a children's book. But, Mr. Higgs has it down just right. His words and the very good reading by Mr. Fox made this a totally enjoyable experience. I really didn't want it to end and am looking forward to more of Albert Smith and "Rex Harrison".

Very enjoyable

I was skeptical but really enjoyed these mysteries. Light hearted and yet good mysteries with fun interplay between dogs and humans!

Not crazy about the narrator’s cadence of speech. Storyline was cute and interesting. Liked it.

Science fiction fan turned to Murder Mystery fan.

Loved trained dog with trained and experienced owner. I’ve been a science fiction fan since growing up watching Star Trek in the 1960’s. I had a credit and the story sample sounded interesting. I really enjoyed the 10 book grouping. Was a really smart idea and got me hooked. I’m happy to have a new author to follow and if all the books are this good I will be busy all year. Thanks for giving me a new author and genre to follow.

REX!!!😂🤣

This is a fun, lighthearted, very funny set of stories. If you enjoy stories where the dog is the hero, you gotta listen to them, because Rex, the German Shepherd, steal the show!

The absolute best cozy mystery

The trek of Albert and Rex across the UK is fun and full of adventure. This is not a silly set of books like some cozy mysteries tend to be. It is well written, has interesting plots and developed characters, but the best is the relationship between Albert and Rex. I have a German Shepard and could relate to Rex’s antics. Also I can relate to Albert’s aches and pains! I was sad when the book ended. I will definitely buy the next book.

good deal

I love box sets... this was worth the credit. I really hope they put the next 5 into a set. That always makes it worth it. A bit redundant by book 10 BUT still fresh enough to.wantto know what happens next
