About this listen

One Mississippi. Two Mississippi. Three....

“Need a ride?”

Fourteen years ago, FBI agent Blake Wilder's life turned upside down.

Her parents were murdered, and her sister was taken.

At the age of 22, Blake joined the FBI, hoping one day she would find out the truth behind her tragic past. Unfortunately, the only lead she had, a man she had known since childhood, was found dead.

Out of leads to follow, Blake Wilder turned to doing what she does best - her job.

It is then that she stumbles onto a case that promises to bring not just distractions but tragedies.

With a sadistic and enigmatic killer on the loose and just getting started, Blake finds herself steps behind and struggles to catch up as the body count rises and college girls are slain.

As Blake is matching wits with the killer, she stumbles across a mysterious figure from her childhood who could potentially reignite her parents’ case once more.

Everything is building to a head and enemies are gathering. Even if Blake survives her encounter with this new, dangerous predator, she might not survive the cost that digging into her own past will certainly bring.

Plots, conspiracies, killers, and enemies abound. To get the answers she is so desperately seeking, Blake must be prepared to pay the ultimate price.

Knowledge is power. But for some of us, too much knowledge is deadly.

I really cannot think of a negative response. I have enjoyed the series very much and am looking forward to the next book in the saga of one Ms. Blake Wilder.

The quote, “Does a bear defecate in a sylvan environment?“

The series is great but how many times can an FBI agent be stupid and still have her life and job, Blake is so freaking stupid and ignorant in every book. she runs off and gets kidnaped, shot, stabbed, beat up and ends up in the hospital or getting medical care. The author wants you to believe she is a top FBI agent but misses clues and gets herself into situations that make no sense.
I like a strong female lead and think this series would have been better if she more made better choices. It's amazing how she takes all the accolades for catching the killers when she has a team helping her. I guess that's a typical boss.
I will finish the series but I sure hope she gets more brains, unfortunately I doubt it.

liked the series but can't stand the ignorance

The story was written very well as usual, and the story continues to excite you, so you want to continue to read. But they were sometimes when they were certain situations that I will start fighting with the audio, hoping that the main character would would do what I wanted her to do. Now I’m hoping that on the next series of parents, death and marks all Levi’s situation is resolved. I’m curious to find out what will happen next.

A another exciting mystery

Love the series so far. I’d really like for her to stop acting clueless and realize what’s going on. I hope this next book she figures to things out.

Love the series

I really wish the author would she gotten away from the I said, she said every other sentence. I’m enjoying the storyline. I have almost quit listening several times because it’s annoying but here I am.

If she could go back and edit the way it reads-it would make listening to it so much easier.

Invested in the story line…

This book is not very realistic. First, Blake seems to think that she has the authority to take over any local case that she desires. True, she can take over under certain conditions, but the FBI can only take over in a case when asked by local law-enforcement. She could, however, take over if it is deemed a serial case, but at the outside of the book, only one murder has occurred only after the third murder, would she be allowed to examine the case. As for the investigation, the storyline does make some sense. The ending however, bothers me most it seems for the sake of excitement, she makes Blake out to be a total idiot. She is somewhat convincing as to why she has to go in without back up, but the fact that she is taken by surprise by him busting in through a door in which she is supposedly prepared for him yet he manages to get the jump on her is totally unrealistic. He would have to bust through the door, locate her, take aim and fire, all before being prepared, shotgun in had, ready for him to come from only one of two locations and fire her weapon. Yet he still manages to get the jump on her. Very implausible.

I have read several of Elle Grays books and this seems to be the norm for the heroines in her books. It would be a pleasant surprise if one of these highly trained FBI agents would actually show some of their expertise and come out relatively unscathed by the end.

On a positive note, I do enjoy the plot lines, and will continue with the series. I just hope it gets a little more plausible.

Not very realistic.

Blake is pretty clueless for being a top FBI agent. Also, she allows Mark to disrespect her wishes and home. I was hoping for her to find out about him on this book, but that was not the case. I'm not sure if I will continue this series since it is getting repetitive.

Is Blake blind???
