About this listen

Mike Tower is a circuit rider, a traveling preacher charged with tending the lawless souls of the Wild West. Utterly fearless, he carries no gun, only the word of the Lord - and the shadowy mystery of a secret past.

Sharpshooting, hard-drinking Bird Hitchcock yields to no man, but a woman's gotta work. And so she hires herself out as the circuit rider's gun hand, protecting him along the treacherous trail from Missouri westward. As they ride, a new mission rises out of the dust of the sin-soaked land. Someone is killing women - slowly, brutally - and Tower and Bird want nothing more than to put a stop to the sadistic murders. Bird thirsts for vengeance. Tower hungers for redemption. Together, as an unlikely duo, they will search for both - or die trying.

Twists of a Crime Mystery

What did you love best about The Circuit Rider?

Twists in the story,

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

It kept me interesting and wondering what the next twist was.

What does Mikael Naramore bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The voice used for Bird was distinctive but didn't fit the story,

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Circuit Rider

This book is a very good and interesting book. Mike is a traveling preacher through the west. Bird Hitchcock is along to protect him. There is a mystery they have to solve which connects to Birds past. Mike was a gunslinger before he became a preacher. This is a good western and mystery book I highly recommend this book. I enjoyed it very much. Mikael Naramore is new to me . He did a very good job narration this book. If my review is any help will you please click on the helpful link below. Thank you.

A gem

I can't say Western is my favorite style, but I'm always down for a good story and this was a great one. Characters were interesting and diverse, with very different perpectives, attitudes, and reactions to events.

Description is concise and you won't spend precious time listening to the colors of the sunset, the size of dust particles, and the number of leaves on trees.

It was originally released in short written episodes, which were then made into a book. You can still get the feeling of "what will be next?", but without having to wait for it. Super enjoyable!

Narration was also top-notch.

Dime store western meets Helter Skelter

Worth it on sale. This is a pulpy western with just enough mystery and backstory to justify the shoot em up action. Our duo find a murder, a showdown, and clueless simpletons in every town. The bad guy is a one note occult madman and our duo are the stereotypical western anti-heroes (Tower is a gunfighter turned preacher and Bird is a broken, alcoholic sharpshooting tomboy). This reminded me a bit like The Quick and The Dead.

No surprises, but lots of fun

This book is everything it says it is. No more, no less. Since I bought the book with certain anticipations based on the plot description, I was very happy with what I got. I also love the fact that the book is divided into episodes, like a movie serial, which adds to the fun. I do have a small gripe about the ending, but my no-spoilers policy prevents me from discussing that. Still, it didn't prevent me from having a damn good time with this book, and looking forward to the next in the series. If the book description intrigues you, I recommend you give it a read. I feel confident you won't be disappointed. I certainly wasn't.
