AD Earth, 2508. Humans have spread across the six arms of the Milky Way Galaxy. The Unified Authority controls Earth's colonies with an iron fist and a powerful military - a military made up almost entirely of clones....

Private first-class Wayson Harris was raised in a U.A. orphanage among thousands of clones born and bred as the ultimate soldiers. But Harris isn't like the other Marines: He has a mind of his own. He figures he's paying for that independent streak when his first assignment out of boot camp is the smallest Marine outpost in the whole U.A.

When a rogue general surfaces, the remote desert world Harris thought was a dead-end posting becomes anything but. Fighting off the general's raid gains Harris a promotion. But it also brings him to the attention of some unfriendly U.A. leaders. They have their own plans for the military - plans Harris disrupts by his very existence. For in an army of clones, the one unforgivable sin is to be different....

Story was great and the performance was awesome. I’m looking forward to hearing what happens in the next book. I can see myself listening to this book again.

Totally Worth It

The story line was good, however the rock music with the guitars was out of place. The music took away from the story.

Too much Rock music

I like this series and was excited to see an audio available.
I understand that with the dramatization the remove some stuff to replace with sound effects and he said she said, but they removed a decent amount of other material as well.
Overall the performance was good, however there were times when I could just barely hear what was being said because the sound effects were too loud and were drowning out the dialogue.
Overall I enjoyed it but some simple improvements could have made it a lot better.

Good, but abridged and noisy

I read this book many years ago and was really looking forward to an audio version of it. This version is just not done well. I will say, this is the first audiobook I've had that is dramatized with sound effects. if this is representative of these types of audio books, I will avoid them in the future. the sound effects are very cartoonish and not thoughtfully placed throughout the storyline. door openings and gunshots sound like sound clips lifted directly from Scooby-Doo. I can get past most of that, if they weren't so loud and in many cases overpowering the actual narrative. The sound effects from the battle scenes sounded like they were directly recorded on a walkie-talkie and then played with the volume cranked up. I like to listen to my audiobooks with headphones or while I'm driving and having to crank up the volume to hear the narrator over the background noises was distracting and painful to listen to.

(forgive my grammar as this was written on a phone)

good book to read, audio adaptation is poor

I enjoyed the voice acting but the music in the background would come in way to loud at really inappropriate times and take me out of it. Also a really racist Asian accent.

DIstracting background.
