About this listen

What will it be like when the world really ends? Do you think that your doomsday television shows and your survival internet forums have prepared you for what is really coming? Do you think you will be able to keep your sanity with no cellular phone, no automobile, and no electricity? Will you be able to steal to stay warm, eat the family pet so you do not starve, or kill another human being to stay alive? You do not really want the world to end, not like this.

Atrum Terra: Dark Lands tells the story of two people from different sides of the nation who struggle to survive after a devastating attack breaks the back of the United States. It is a journey in which the whole world is sent spiraling toward a dark future where humans are an endangered species.

Jonathan Fisher is an average man living in Minnesota whose very sanity is tested when everything about his normal life is ripped away in an instant. He is left to survive in a new world full of victims, brigands, and a man-made plague that turns its victims into violent, mindless cannibals.

Miguel Alverez is a Marine recruit trainee in California when the attack begins. He is thrown into active duty and must overcome the terror of a war from two sides as a biological weapon turns America's citizens against one another while enemy forces close in on the nation's borders.

Wow, I’m still in awe of just how good this trilogy was from start to finish. No lie, of the hundreds of audiobooks I’ve listened to over the years I’d put this trilogy in the Top 10- yes, it really is that good. I guess I’d describe it is the best parts of Last of Us combined with the best parts of the Call of Duty franchise? The action was intense, the characters were people you can actually care about, and the bittersweet ending was memorable and definitive- no lame ‘non ending’ here. My one complaint is the this author doesn’t have more work I can immediately purchase because this is going to be a difficult void in my listening rotation to fill.

Deserves a lot more exposure

Can’t get enough of graphic audio productions. This one had great story line and in my favorite genre… apocalyptic. Thanks to GA I listen to a lot of other genres. This author had great character development and production was fantastic

I wasn't expecting much first going into this book, but was gladly surprised to find this was a great listen.

one of my top favorite zombie novels.

This was a great cast and story that I really enjoyed listening to. It was very dark and I'm still thinking about the ending the next day. I love Graphic Audio adaptations. This one is a keeper.

Wow. Great cast and haunting storyline

This was probably one of the best book series I have listened to, and I’m not going to spoil anything, but there were moments in this trilogy that caused me to cry a bit. Overall, Graphic Audio and the talented cast did such a great job with sound effects, music, and the narration of this series. Now, I’m definitely going to check out what other books they have done.

This is a gem of a series

It’s definitely worth a listen, but it definitely takes a lot of dark turns for only the sake of being dark, it’s got a high production value and is definitely worth it, but you will occasionally get a migraine at the dumb decisions made by the characters, particularly Jonathan, he’s chronically smart yet dumb, also I think the author hates his existence. But yeah it’s good but be ready to feel depressed a lot.

Why are the characters so good yet so dumb

A refreshing twist on the very old Zombie theme.....BUTT. why do so many author's these days tend to give the main characters all the intelligence of a tree stump? There are a great many examples of this in the story, too many to count actually.
There are also a lot of plot holes, such as one of the characters being bitten multiple times, and nothing mentioned about it afterwards and with a 99% virus infection rate.
It's very unfortunate that the author seems to want to portray the general population as dumber than a box or rocks though. This could have been a great story.

Could have been Fantastic , couldn't finish

The red scare plot from this is almost comical. I'd not have been surprised if the main characters started yelling "WOLVERINES!" halfway through as they are fighting more Russians and Chinese than the zombies. The characters are beyond dumb at points and there either weird choices in the writing that make me feel there were characters that just got bit and didnt have anything happen or gaping plot holes. Not sure which.

The authors understanding of some things is rather immature and he uses alot of cliches that are cliche for a reason. The book has quite a bit of fun ideas in it that are marred by these two points.

The performance and sound effects from the majority of the cast were the shining light in this one, but otherwise it's not really all that great... or even very good frankly.

Was this dug up from the 80's?
