About this listen

“All eyes and hair” a courtier had said disparagingly of her – and certainly the younger daughter of Tom Boleyn lacked the bounteous charms of most ladies of Court. Black-haired, black eyes, she had a wild-sprite quality that was to prove more effective, more dangerous than conventional feminine appeal. The King first noticed her when she was sixteen – and with imperial greed he smashed her youthful love-affair with Harry Percy and began the process of royal seduction… But this was no ordinary woman, no maid-in-waiting to be possessed and discarded by a king. Against his will, his own common sense, Henry found himself bewitched – enthralled by the young girl who was to be known as the Concubine…

Good story of Anne Boleyn

Some redundancy but good anyway. It got a little long for me but I kept at it as I choose to finish every book I start

Very, Very Good!

What made the experience of listening to The Concubine the most enjoyable?

I absolutely loved this book! Norah Lofts was such a talented writer! The details, conversations, and the historical events are so well intertwined with the story that makes it entirely believable.

The other great plus on this audio book was Patricia Gallimore's performance... She is one of my favorite narrators! Her performances and impersonations are always impeccable!

I absolutely recommend it!

HEAVEN & HELL

My stomach hurt even though I was reading/ listening to this book a 2nd time(& couldn't put it down if I tried) then I came to the conclusion to be fiercely kind & uplifting to all God's creatures at all times as much as I can master, so as to counteract the evil unleashed throughout time so I can keep faith in humanity. The story & narration is incredible

Narrative

When the men talked, it sounded like they were straining to take a crap.

A real disappointment

I really tried to finish this book but it was impossible. First of all the writing is boring as a dry history text and secondly the narrator seriously got on my nerves. A real waste of time and money
