About this listen

All Jamie Lassiter wants is to marry his best friend's sister and settle down for the rest of his life in Chance Creek. He's saved his money, bought into the Cruz Guest Ranch and he's ready for that wedding, but Claire Cruz is nowhere to be found. Claire's too busy leaving Montana behind to care about cowboys or their wedding plans. She's got plans of her own - a trip around the world. She'll go as soon as she buys her tickets and she doesn't care if she ever sees Chance Creek again. Desperate to change Claire's mind, Jamie proposes a bet: give him six weeks to convince her to marry him. If he can't, he'll pay for her round-the-world tickets himself. Claire can wait six weeks if it means free tickets and a chance to get a little revenge on a man who once broke her heart. She's got only one stipulation: Jamie can't touch or flirt with her - or any other woman - while the bet is on. Now Jamie's on the run from a bevy of cowboy-groupie ranch guests, and Claire's learning she cares about the ranch - and Jamie - more than she dreamed possible. Maybe it's time to lose that bet. As long as Jamie loses it first.

Forever infatuated, mesmerized and finally, in love with his best friend's sister, Jamie, a regular playboy knows what he wants out of life. His own ranch, a home, a wife to call his own along with a family. Not just any woman would do for him--Claire Cruz was it for him.

When Claire comes home, she's determined to stay away from men that use and easily dismiss their women after a proverbial roll in the hay. Hellbent to sell her portion of the ranch she no longer called home, all thanks to her mother and old memories of broken hearts, she plans to take her money and run on a trip around the world.

The Cowboy Wins a Bride is a phenomenal read that continues on from where we left off in Cora Seton's first book entitled The Cowboy's E-mail Order Bride in her Cowboys of Chance Creek Series. Combining romance, suspense, family secrets, and steamy scenes, I found myself delighted, entertained...okay, enthralled from start to finish. As with the first, I enjoyed every little bit of it and truthfully, Cora gets better every time.

This book was enjoyable and interesting. I loved the story with horses, cowboys and a cantankerous cowgirl who is a interior decorator.

Where does The Cowboy Wins a Bride rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Pretty good. The story kept me interested. I love listening to the story as it more open and fresh when hearing it out loud.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved Jamie's Character. He was determined and never wavered when it came to the life he wanted with Claire. He did everything he could to make it happen. Also getting to catch up on Ethan and Autumn was an extra bonus.

Have you listened to any of Amy Rubinate’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

She is good. She is able to differentiate between the characters which always makes it interesting.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes! I could not stand Claire! She was so horrible not only to Jamie but to everyone around her. She whined and complained about everything. She couldn't make her mind up about anything in her life.

The plot with Morgan showing up at the ranch the day after Claire told her to stay out of their lives was a bit unbelievable. Also, Ethan inviting her to go along on the overnight campout with his paying guests and ignoring how upset Claire was didn't work for me either.

Any additional comments?

Good book. Didn't like it as much as I did Ethan's story.

Characters in the series keep developing more depth and personality. Can lifelong friends become ever after happy couple? Yes, but oh my all the hurdles to get there.

Another practical joke gone wrong for Rob.

I dislike Clair , she is too witchy, very selfish, immature, and insecure, indecisive , intolerant and unforgiving.

I really enjoyed Jamie, such a good steadfast guy. He has only wanted a few thing in his life. To own a part of the ranch he has spent much of his life working on and Claire. Claire comes across as a demanding, self-centered, insecure bitch. As the story moved along the reasons for her insecurities were revealed but she didn't improve much in my thinking until the end.

If the story were a movie, it would be classified as a comedy. It would make a truly wonderful movie.

While I thought the heroine was a bit immature and self centered and the hero more than a little too good to be true, overall the story was good. It is steamy and at times that detracted from the overall storyline. But, having said that I had no problem finishing the book and I will follow through to read the rest of the series. The narration was good and easy to listen too.
