About this listen

A wealthy recluse who’s afraid for his life, a beautiful new bride with a murky past, and three angry heirs out to protect their inheritance. There's something not quite right about the Templeton-Swifts.

England, Summer 1926. When Lord Edgington receives a letter from Hugo Templeton-Swift, a famously rich old man who believes he’s being poisoned, the renowned detective fetches his assistant, his golden retriever, and a full staff of servants and heads off to the countryside to investigate. But when the bodies start falling in the enigmatic manor of Riverside Keep, anyone could be guilty.

Though all fingers point to Hugo’s much younger wife, his three estranged children have their own reasons for wanting their father out of the picture, and even the servants are acting suspiciously. With the aid of his loyal grandson, Lord Edgington must pick through a house filled with secrets in order to catch the killer and solve “The Curious Case of the Templeton-Swifts”.

Dive into the pacy, puzzling and particularly warm-hearted new entry in the bestselling series of 1920s whodunits. The sixth “Lord Edgington Investigates…” novel is sure to have you holding your sides and scratching your head, as you race to spot the culprit before the beloved detectives can get their man.

The audiobooks in this series are narrated by George Blagden from the TV shows, Vikings, Versailles, and the Oscar winning-film of Les Miserables.

I love these stories, they never fail to make me laugh while I follow the fun of the mystery. The family and of course Marmaduke are great characters and their relationships charming. However the stories develop I hope these characteristics remain. I am looking forward to the next one…

Another great romp

Like the series. With this book the plot was a little obvious and self righteous at times.

Disappointed

I eagerly look forward to each Lord Edgington installment and find myself laughing out loud at various times. This is a typical country manor mystery plot however the author adds a few twists that keeps you guessing and from seeing the obvious. The narrator is perfect and brings the characters to life. What I like about this series is the delicate balance being played as Chrissy matures into a young man as he learns how to become a great detective from the master himself. It will be interesting to see how and when Chrissy starts to figure things out himself. Will he eventually become the master and his grandfather the side kick? I also love the humanness of Lord Edgington. You get to see a different facet of his character in every installment. Looking forward to the next one 🙂

Another great installment

I think this is for the youth, however I am 68 yrs old and grew up with Nancy Drew books. I will always love a good mystery. Benedict Brown is now one of my favorite authors. I will be reading his other series.

Another great book in the series: funny lines, lovable characters, great plot.
I enjoy this series very much, and much has to do with a great narrator who brought every character to life.
The characters were very lovable and funny. Christopher was such an adorable bumbling teenager. Lord Edgington was very funny too, with his quirks and over the top travel style.
I look forward to the next book.
