About this listen

"The Dawn," the gripping continuation to the Invasion Trilogy, immerses listeners in a world teetering on the brink of a new era. In the aftermath of a brutal extraterrestrial invasion, humanity clings to survival on Mackinac Island, a last bastion of freedom in a world overwhelmed by alien forces.

James, a hardened veteran, finds solace in the icy solitude of the island, haunted by the memories of war and loss. Alongside his loyal dog, Duke, he navigates a life far removed from the frontlines. Yet, the peace is short-lived. When Rogers and Karina, leaders of the resistance, go missing during a critical mission in enemy territory, James is reluctantly drawn back into the fray.

As the harsh winter binds the island, rumors of an impending alien "exodus" loom – a wave that could extinguish the last flames of human resistance. With the fate of the free world hanging in the balance, James must lead a perilous journey into the heart of darkness, where he will confront not only the alien threat but also the shadows of his past.

In "The Dawn," alliances are tested, and secrets are unearthed, revealing the true cost of freedom in a world forever changed. As the final battle lines are drawn, James and his companions must make a stand, for the dawn of a new world is upon them, and its light will either herald their salvation or cast them into eternal shadow.

This latest installment combines relentless action, deep emotional turmoil, and a stark vision of a future where the fight for humanity's soul is as crucial as the battle for its survival. "The Dawn" is not just a story of war; it's a tale of hope, resilience, and the unyielding power of the human spirit.

Not as good as rest of series

It wasn’t that the story wasn’t good, or there was a problem with the narrator, he was fine, but it didn’t compare to the first three books. I did miss the original narrator to be honest. In this book, the characters were written completely different. They did not speak nearly the same as they did in the original series. James in particular was completely different. Everyone knew exactly what to do. There also wasn’t any scale to the amount of troops that were fighting along with them. It missed the desperation of the first three books.
