About this listen
From bestselling author of Under the Breaking Sky comes an epic new alien invasion series.
A strange, glowing object lands in the forest. Tim is the only one who sees it. Venturing out to investigate, he discovers animals infected with a mysterious black growth. When he returns to his cabin, he realizes the horrifying truth: whatever disease the object brought to Earth, Tim has caught it too.
Now begins a living nightmare. Tim grows sicker, succumbs to the illness and dies—only to awaken again the next morning.
But something is wrong. Tim is no longer fully human. He's transforming into something else. Something dangerous ...
Invaders offers a chilling blend of sci-fi horror and post-apocalyptic suspense. With its gripping tale of alien invasion and unsettling mutations, this story will appeal to fans of Independence Day, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, and Stephen King's Dreamcatcher and The Tommyknockers. A compelling start to a series that explores survival, humanity, and the fear of the unknown.

Story
BANGKOK, MARCH 2018. The world looked on in horror as millions of innocent lives were snuffed out in a matter of hours. Countless men, women and children slaughtered without mercy, torn apart by a violent mob that attacked without reason, motive or warning. Tom Freeman witnessed the aftermath. He reported on the tragedy and looked into the eyes of the sole survivor, an old friend, and what he saw looking back sent him running home to the United States. Back to safety. Back to a place where the world made sense, and the putrid stink of the dead didn't haunt his nightmares.

Adam Eberhardt has always felt different, but he never would’ve guessed he was a clone of Albert Einstein. Science geeks don't usually live inside the body of a hulk. A brain that never shuts off can be a blessing or a curse, but Adam hasn’t felt many blessings during his sleepless nights, regular victims of his severe anxiety disorder. Weaving through harrowing childhood memories, science research, and self-doubt, he most enjoys spending his mind power thinking about his wunderkind fellow student, Margot. . .who remains oblivious to his interest.

Story
Captain Jessie Cinders faces a hazardous choice. The murderer of the governor’s nephew stands before him. But, the frightened teenager, Aurelia Garmenti, doesn’t resemble the commandant’s description of the vicious, hardened killer his security forces seek. To complicate matters, Jessie’s mind has felt Aurelia’s mental powers. The girl is an empath, who escaped the domes below and rode the El car to reach the JOS, Pyre’s orbital station. This shouldn’t be possible. The century-old agreement between topsiders and downsiders forbids the domes to knowingly admit empaths.

When Aliens Come Calling....Run!
I was entertained by this first book in a new series by this author. I was engrossed from the opening paragraphs until the end as I had to know what was going to happen next. I followed Tim's metamorphosis with bated breath, and I'm curious as to what more changes he will undergo before his journey reaches its conclusion. I was unsettled as this story ended on a cliffhanger, and I can't wait until the next book in the series. I enjoyed Spencer Dillehay's narration as his performance was entertaining. I was given a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.

Exciting
As usual Nick delivers a nerve rattling story that leaves me wanting more. The narrator Spencer always brings the story to life. Can't wait for the next book in the series.
