There is nothing wrong with it just too short

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Well I enjoyed it well enough, it didn't bore me. Though it never grabbed me as well.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The most interesting part of the story was probably near the beginning when you got to witness a dark wizard going about recruiting random monsters. Least interesting was the tired attempts at humor and humanization by making use of tired "Men just can't understand women" scenarios. Trust me, it does work better with a laugh track.

What three words best describe Dolph Amick’s performance?

Above Adequate. Longsuffering.

Do you think The Death Ray needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

No it needed an extra 5 hours liberally drizzled all through it.

Any additional comments?

The writing shows huge improvement over the first and it did probably as much as it could in the short amount of time allotted to it. But it simply couldn't do any nuance, anywhere. Because the author wasn't given enough time. But it was solid as far as vanilla reading goes.
