Publisher's summary

Dante's Divine Comedy is a mythical epic poem adventure in which Dante is guided through heaven, purgatory, and hell. Each after-life division is further divided. The sections of heaven are on different planets and stars, the sections of purgatory are divided along the upward journey of a mountain, and the levels of hell are an upside-down funnel composed of seven rings of punishment. This work explores the possibilities after death and is a timeless classic that focuses on fantastical descriptions, imaginative action, and philosophical dialogue between Dante and his spirit guides.

What a Great Alagory of Modern Times

Whenever there is a new translation of the Divine Comedy out I feel a deep desire to read it. This one is no different but its tempo and choice of words I found absolutely spellbinding. Like a new pair of glasses, it puts old things in a different and refreshing view. The genius is the choice of words. You have to read it.

beautiful

this is a beautiful work. and it's a perfect exposé on how the Christian religion is inherently contradictory.

upon entering hell he talks about the large number of souls of great worth that were banished there simply for not being baptized. a loving god would do that?! a sane god would do that?!

I realize that in titling the work "The Divine Comedy' Dante wasn't referring to it's ability to make you chuckle, but it really seems like the joke is on anyone who reads this in an attempt to affirm philosophical accuracy.
