About this listen

Two people determined to give their hearts to God alone find love on their journey west to serve as missionaries in 1830s America.

Priscilla White knows she'll never be a wife or mother and feels God's call to the mission field in India. Dr. Eli Ernest is back from Oregon Country only long enough to raise awareness of missions to the natives before heading out West once more. But then Priscilla and Eli both receive news from the mission board: No longer will they send unmarried men and women into the field.

Left scrambling for options, the two realize the other might be the answer to their needs. Priscilla and Eli agree to a partnership, a marriage in name only that will allow them to follow God's leading into the mission field. But as they journey west, this decision will be tested by the hardships of the trip and by the unexpected turnings of their hearts.

Loved this story! Clean- not overly preachy — which is hard to do when your characters are missionaries. Totally recommend!

Great clean story!

The story was well written and thought provoking. I never became bored. The character’s were interesting with believable human characteristics. The performer did a very good job with expressing the emotions of the characters.

Good story and performance

I liked and enjoyed the story, which I thought was well-written. I didn't care for the narrator, though.

Overall enjoyable story.

I appreciate the fact that there wasn’t any raunchy descriptions as has become the norm. The growth in the characters is great to see. Huge fan of Jody Hedlund!

Good, CLEAN romance!

The Doctors Lady was a wonderful story. I am completely a follower of the author. She has an awesome writers mind, she doesn’t just write the same type of story over and over again. Yes they are clean romances with a great story line .

A wonderful story

This book was mildly entertaining. I made it through to the end, but there were times I thought of leaving it. It got a little tedious when the main character always had to be saved by someone in a dramatic scene. I wanted there to be more conversation between the main characters… not just describing the questions they had or their fluttering hearts. All in all it was mildly entertaining and I have and will check out more books by the author. The narrator did a pretty good job too, but the women’s voices got a little sickly sweet toward the end. I’d say it’s worth a listen to have something on while you take a long drive or doing chores.

It was ok
