About this listen

Due to her parents' promise at her birth, Lady Rosemarie has been prepared to become a nun on the day she turns 18. Then, a month before her birthday, a friend of her father's enters the kingdom and proclaims her parents' will left a second choice - if Rosemarie can marry before the eve of her 18th year, she will be exempt from the ancient vow.

Before long, Rosemarie is presented with the three most handsome and brave knights in the land. But when the competition for her heart seemingly results in a knight playing foul, she begins to wonder if the convent is the best place after all. If only one of the knights - the one who appears the guiltiest - had not already captured her heart.

This was just okay

I love most of Jody headlin's books but this one fell flat for me. it was very predictable very juvenile in the writing I could not sink into the characters. their narration did not help very juvenile again.

I’m so confused!

I love medieval squishy books. If you just read the book I think you will really enjoy it. The story itself is has a great plot. Love knights, a humble leader. A wonderful bad guy, he puts the bad in bad guy. It was the narrator, she sounded like she was eleven years old. Not the almost eighteen she should be. The narrator made the heroine sound like a whiny five year old. Made the men sound like, well not very knight sounding. Read the book. Don’t listen to the narration. The girl is talented, this just wasn’t her story to tell.

One of my favorites!

Not only is this book and it’s series my favorites but the reader does perfect justice to the story in the way she reads it!

another great book by jody hedlund

l have loved all the books by mrs. hedlund. it took me a while to really get into this book but as I continued to listen the mystery thickens. I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to one and all.

Charming

Charming story with a good assortment of characters, but with some unnecessarily gruesome parts. The story could have been equally dramatic without the gore.

The narrator has a pleasant voice, but needs more depth of emotion in the dramatic parts. I liked most of her chsracters' voices.

Not worth it

I have read so very high quality young adult novels in the past, but this was not one of them. It was formulaic, the heroine was weak and came across as whiney. She was supposedly raised to be the ruler of a kingdom, but completely lacked any leadership skills. It was also incredibly historically inaccurate in too many ways to ignore. If it was set in a fictional world that might be forgivable, but some of the best fantasy has a least a relatable toe dipped in reality. This book was a waste of time and money.

It's Okay

I have enjoyed several of Jody Hedlund's books, but this one was a little too syrupy sweet for me. I had not realized that it was written for the teen & young adult category. I was looking forward to a historical fantasy that would be easy and relaxing to listen to, but this book was written like a fairytale and it was too syrupy sweet and predictable. I had read the reviews and so I wasn't expecting much, but I was still disappointed and sometimes found it hard to listen.
At times the narrator did not make a difference in her voice between the male and female parts and it would get confusing until I would rewind the conversations and figured it out.
This book was very different from the other books that I had listened to by Jody Hedlund. Normally I enjoy her books very much and I highly recommend them, but just understand that this book is for young teen.
