Publisher's summary

A hundred years ago a woman tore my heart out. I haven’t risked it since.

Faking things with Gretta should be simple fun. Scaring off her evil ex is a bonus. She makes the fire deep inside of me rage with desire, and I need to make things real. Will she accept me if I tell her I’m a dragon shifter? Hell, I don’t even know if she’ll believe me.

Wizards have come to town, and they’re up to no good. Why do they want Gretta? It doesn’t matter. I’ll keep her safe. My heart is ready to heal, and my inner dragon is sure of one thing: She’s my fated mate.

New relationship? No, thanks.... Fake one? Sign me up!

People say workaholic like it’s a bad thing. Those people don’t know my life. Love? Ha! Not in the cards. I’m still trying to get rid of my disastrous ex. Then Samuel shows up like a knight in shining armor. He’s ready to fake it all to keep the evil ex at bay.

One tiny problem: Nothing feels fake with Samuel. He makes me crave the heat of his embrace and long nights in his bed. I think I’m ready to trust him with my heart. But when Samuel reveals an impossible secret it’s no longer my sister, my work, or my ex that I’m worried about. Can I really be falling for a guy that breathes fire?

Dragons for Hire is a brand new paranormal romance series where the dragons are smoking hot and ready to claim their mates. Samuel will need to convince his mate that their fake relationship is real if she’s going to be his.

Great story!

This was a great story. The storyline was excellent and well written. The narrators do a great job telling the story. I love Jack Calihan's voice. He was perfect for the dragon.

Great book

I really loved how this book was written and I enjoyed the idea of shape Shifter Dragon's and other shape Shifters living amongst the humans and they are aware of their existence I feel in most books or shows the humans are not aware of the supernaturals at least not all humans it was a different outlook on things. I thought both narrorators did an awesome job bringing these characters to life and made the book very enjoyable to listen to! I recommend this book if you are a fan of all things supernatural and romance ❤

Dragon shifter series

I heard the audiobook narrated by Jack Calihan and Lelley Huston, they did an overall good job, the characters were interesting, the heroine needed a bit more strength, Gretta and Sam's story was mate shifter story, she wants to get rid of her ex and he wasn't expecting the one at all. The story developed slowly, I would've enjoyed it if it was more fast-paced. Will continue with the next one.

A mediocre shifter romance

Maybe it is just me, but I did not really like this audiobook. This mediocre listening experience reminds me that I need to be picky about choosing paranormal romances. The plot was not original and the villains were trite and predictable. The heroine had very little personality, and she was much less emotionally mature than the hero. Besides the heroine, all the other characters were fine. The two main characters dithered too much about the relationship in their thoughts.

There were a few things I did like. The bedroom scenes were very well written, and the hero was very likable. The setting in a small Vermont town was well described and lovely. Thankfully, the final showdown had some tense and exciting action scenes.

The dual narrators did a good job with the text that they were given. The male narrator, Jack Calihan, delivered a very good performance, and I would give him 4 stars. He has a rich, deep voice with really good emotion and pacing. He is pretty good at all the character voices as well. The female narrator, Kelley Huston, did her best with the boring heroine, but she made the woman sound frumpier than she had to be. She did not always enunciate enough or pace very well, so I give her performance 3 stars.

The doctor and the dragon!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙🖤💚❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌍
Character development: 😠😘🤓🥰
Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Dual Narration

The Hero: Samuel - he is a dragon shifter who recently retired from the military. He and his friends just moved to Vermont to open a security company. He is single and has yet to find his destined mate. Though shifters are known in the world, Sam knows that some people have issues with dragon shifters.

The heroine: Gretta - she just broke up with her boyfriend Bill, who has been using her, taking her for granted, treating her badly and cheating on her. Though she is in a tough situation since she is a doctor who works for Bill’s father and wants a new job researching a cure for MS, which her sister has. Bill doesn’t want to break up and won’t move his stuff out of her apartment.

The Story: Gretta’s best friend Justin is a panther shifter, he is a male nurse and just happens to live next door to the house Sam just moved into. Justin asks Sam for help with Gretta’s ex boyfriend who can’t seem to take no for an answer. When Sam meets Gretta for the first time he immediately knows she is his mate, and readily agrees to pretend to be her new man in order to get Bill to leave her alone without jeopardizing her job.

The story is good and I like a fake dating story and I love dragon shifters. I liked the fact that Gretta didn’t know Samual was a shifter, though she knows shifters exist and has a bestie that is a shifter. I also liked the reason for fake dating, it made sense that Sam is in security and is helping Gretta like that and also so many fake dating stories are due to going to a wedding of some event, I liked the fact that these two are faking it to get rid of an ex. I also loved seeing Bill get what was coming to him.

This book is told in dual points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Kelley Huston and Jack Calihan. They both do a good job, though I am not overly fond of either of their voices. Kelley Huston’s voice sounds a bit nasal and Jack Calihan has a very gravelly voice, sounding almost hoarse. Though I have heard much worse. These two didn’t make me want to stop listening like some.

Good story and fun to listen to

This is a good story and fun to listen to. Watching Sam try to date Greya without her knowing it’s real?...very fun! They go through some ups and downs while trying to iron out the rough patches. That Zoe? She is adorable! What a great secondary character.

I listened to this on audio. The narrators did a good job. I see how this could lead I to a whole series. These dragons are exciting to watch..err listen to.

Gretta is  a doctor who's hoping to get into a research program to help her sister with MS,  she is dealing with a horrible ex as well. Samuel aka Sam is a dragon shifter,  whos new to town. Gretta and Sam meet when her friend helps herf hire Sam to pretend to be her boyfriend. But what when happen when fate has other ideas? What will happen when danger comes? Will there be a HEA?

Liked the Story More than the Characters

Title: The Dragon's Fake Fiancée
Author: Sadie Sears
Format: Audio
Narrators: Kelley Huston, Jack Calihan
Genre: Paranormal Romance, Shifter (Dragon), fated mates, suspense, bodyguard, fake fiancée
Standalone: Yes
Part of a Series: Book 1 of Dragons for Hire
POV: Gretta and Samuel
Steam Level: Slow burn to steamy
4/5

The Dragon's Fake Fiancée is a great start to the Dragons for Hire series. I liked the mystery aspects of this story but wasn't too fond of either main characters personalities. Gretta was either a pushover or overreacting or unfeeling. Samuel was wishy washy. The author made an attempt to explain all of these personality traits/behaviors but it got a bit annoying at times. However as the story progressed these behaviors were less noticeable as I focused on the story, the mystery of the wizards and the research position. I liked the secondary characters, especially Gretta's best friend. I liked all the different types of shifters and the different types of dragons featured. This is a great start to this series and I'm looking forward to Lilah's book next which Sadie Sears leads into in the last chapter.

Great read

Author is New to me and I enjoyed the book. A couple of time I wanted to strangle the heroine because she’s so judgmental and refused to listen to others but sometimes I can relate. Cant wait for the next book. Once again I love Kelley Huston and Jack Calihan. They did an excellent job at narrating.

Optimus Prime

The male narrator’s voice makes you imagine a character from the movie “Transformers”.
I would have preferred a different voice for the female character but the narrator did a good job nonetheless.
The story is surprisingly good.
