About this listen
The Eighth Court has been established, but petty rivalries and old disputes threaten its stability. The mongrels that make up the court are not helping, and Blackbird enlists the help of the warders to keep the peace. Has Blackbird bitten off more than she can chew, and can the uneasy peace between the courts continue under such tension and rivalry?

Story
First published in 1989 and taking place in downtown Toronto, one of the earliest of the modern urban fantasies, Gate of Darkness, Circle of Light is the story of a fight against encroaching darkness by a developmentally handicapped young woman, a street musician with no idea of his potential, a bag-lady who's tired of picking up the pieces, and an adept of the light. Mixing actual Toronto ghost-stories with traditional Faire, a police procedural, and a cat, Gate of Darkness, Circle of Light opened a gate at street level to the urban fantasy that followed.

Love this story and narration!
I was disappointed in book 3 but this book made up for it. Gone (almost) is the whiny dialog. We return to interesting characters in a great story. The ending was unexpected, though not a surprise. As usual, Nigel Carrington did a superb job. Each character has his or her own voice and none are annoying. I'm looking forward to the next one!

Why? Just why?
Life sucks enough. I choose Fantasy for the escapism. Story’s that end like this are to much like the screwed up real life I face everyday. The author brags about his sad ending in his website. Won’t be buying anything else he writes.
