Publisher's summary

A missing girl. A loving mother who never gave up. A betrayed wife who doesn’t know who to trust.

Teenager Edie Hudson was nobody’s little darling, which made vanishing all too easy. Two decades later, she’s been forgotten by everyone except her mother, Samantha.

And the person who knows what happened to her.

Samantha has had a long time to remember, and to regret. Having seen how little her daughter mattered to the community in the months following her disappearance, she wonders if Edie was lost before she was even gone. Or was it guilt, not indifference, that made the locals turn a blind eye? When she meets Frances, she at last starts to hope for answers.

Because Frances is obsessed with the mystery too, after finding a photo of her husband with the girl who disappeared.

What really happened all those years ago? And just how dangerous could it be to find out?

Excellent....

Extremely well written.., I heard no " mispronounciations" like the other reviewer complained. I enjoyed the not overly descriptive writing , the character development, and that air of menace. I'd rather have a little predictability than plot twists that are far fetched and silly. No the end is not a huge shocker for jaded thriller fans but the slow build up is an entertaining but sad journey.

Story Good Narrator Not So Much

The story line was good and the only reason I stuck through it to the end. One of the Narrators was good but the other made it hard to listen to.

One word: AMAZING!

I loved this book! There were so many turns and people are not as they seem. Kept me on the edge of my seat.

The narrator makes the story

The story is very good. I enjoyed it. The narrator was phenomenal and loved her adaptations of the characters. The narrator kept me hooked.

Captivating story of what mothers go thru when children go missing. Humans can be Glorious , grotesque, kind, and wicked.

Bland

It had an interesting plot that never
fully developed. It ended without answering all my questions. Okay read.

Fine but forgettable

Not really a review but I need to rant for a minute. I notice how many authors will describe people on their 50s/60s as grey, wrinkled, sickly, decrepit and mentally checked out. Every character who was just a generation beyond the people in their late 20s/early 30s are portrayed as elderly. It’s so strange and off putting.

Writing was okay, good narration

Similes, metaphors and adjectives galore (layered like colorful, tapestry rugs piled high at a open air market, with the sounds of vendors ringing in the air like plump crows roaming for scraps on a lonesome prairie). You get the idea; a bit distracting.
