About this listen

Ren Scarborough is no longer the girl who was chased out of England—she is the Goddess of Death ruling Japan’s underworld. But Reapers have recently been spotted in Japan, and it’s only a matter of time before Ivy, now Britain’s Death Goddess, comes to claim her revenge.

Ren’s last hope is to appeal to the god of storms and seas, who can turn the tides to send Ivy’s ship away from Japan’s shores. But he’ll only help Ren if she finds a sword lost thousands of years ago—an impossible demand.

Together with the moon god Tsukuyomi, Ren ventures across the country in a race against time. As her journey thrusts her in the middle of scheming gods and dangerous Yokai demons, she will have to learn who she can truly trust—and the fate of Japan hangs in the balance.

A good sequel but not as thrilling as I expected

This is a lovely series and I did enjoy seeing Ren grow more mature but the ending was a bit flat for me. overall, the performance was good and the story decent. It lacked the entertainment from the first book. It felt like it was just dragging me along to the end. Unlike the first one, the first one had me on edge to find out what would happen next, especially with Hiro and Ren but this one not so much. If you want to find out what happens to Ren then get it and listen to it.

Loved this continuation and conclusion!!

I really, really enjoyed this and could not put it down!! Loved my toxic Ren who is back and is as murderous as ever. 😌

I thought this story was a fantastic continuation of Ren's story. I loved the character growth for Ren and a few of our other characters. I loved seeing how fiercely she loves and protects and how maybe, there is some good in her after all. We do get a bit of romance in this story as well, which I honestly liked a lot more than Ren and Hiro. I also enjoyed how the story concluded. Such a great duology, and I will definitely keeping an eye on Ms. Baker's work for the future!

Also narrator was wonderful!

Love it!

I love the narration, and a wonderful story tied together wonderfully with the first book. I had read the first book last year, and didn't refresh before reading this book. However, the second book was written where I felt like I was remembering along the way. I really enjoyed the story, and again the narrator does a wonderful job.

Great story. I Hope it hasn’t ended.

Both books in the series tell a very different story from most in the fantasy genre. Great book to experience especially with Rebecca Yeo narrating.

First book was better

Good but idk I wish the romance hadn’t been there? I know it’s YA but it added nothing to the story and was just silly. Also that he looked exactly like this brother who she killed? Really? A little too Casandra Clare for me. But the original spirit that was fun and made me love the first book was there.
