New York Times best-selling author LaVyrle Spencer presents one of her most beloved, enduring stories....

Hoping to escape the shame of her street urchin's life in Boston, Anna Reardon plotted a desperate scheme - to become Karl Lindstrom's mail-order bride in the beautiful, dangerous frontier of Minnesota.

A kind and gentle man, Karl forgave Anna for her deceptions. But there was still one burning secret she had to hide from him, knowing its revelation would destroy the love they had come to cherish.

This author is gifted

Loved the characters Ana, Karl, and James. They act and react exactly like I would expect. Very realistic. The author shows the weaknesses of the characters without making you dislike them. In fact, you feel so much compassion for them. Loved the plot. It moved along and I found myself interested in everything that was happening even though most of the events were just normal daily events of the time. Narration was well done. Really one of the best historical romances I’ve read in a long time.

Beautiful

This was my third book by this amazing author, and let me tell you that she is unbelievably talented! She was able to transfer me to another world! I didn’t know so many things bout then - how they lived and how they made their things and she truly thought me so much about the history. Thumbs up to her and the narrator. Well done!

I wasn’t sure

I wasn’t sure this book could be as good as Small Town Girl, the first book I read by the author. But this book exceeded my expectations in all aspects. A lovely read.

Nice story

This was a good story with likeable characters. It’s a clean romance.

The estrangement went on a little long.

But I was genuinely rooting for them to have their HEA!

Good Listen!

I fell in love with Carl, until I didn't like his decision.
However, these kinds of books are better therapy then therapy. How lovely to listen to good examples of how relationships should be and how differences can be handled.

Such a sweet story with such endearing characters!

The Endearment is endearing, well-crafted and so splendid, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Think I read it long ago, when I used to devour romance novels, but listening to it has been absolutely delightful! Very well performed too, loved the Swedish accents! Beautiful ending and rich details of a bygone era, well worth the listen!

A lovely early Americana romance

The story takes I think in the late 1800 after the civil war but before the automobile. In rural Minnesota it’s about a Swedish immigrant settler who places a bride advertisement in the newspaper and a girl from Boston who answered the bride advertisement with her young brother. The story is very well written, it has depth and breadth with great deal of heart. I thoroughly enjoyed this story about Minnesota settlers.

Beautiful and unique story!

I love that this story is so unique. The way the couple gets together, the lives of Anna and her brother as kids, and the almost unforgivable things that Carl is asked to forgive. So many love stories these days are the same story just told with different characters in different towns. I love that this one is completely different. I also thought the narration was excellent. Many a great book is ruined with poor narration. Of course I have no idea what a Swedish accent should sound like but to me it sounded like she did a great job with it. All in all, I highly recommend this book.
