About this listen

Spencer, Lord Wolverston, and newly named Earl of Kinraven, intended to find peace in the wilds of Scotland, far from the torment of wanting the one woman he believed he could never have. But his inheritance has come with a price he had not foreseen...a curse that is slowly driving him mad. He sends a desperate plea for help to his friend, the Duke of Briarleigh, but that plea is intercepted by the last person he wishes to see... the Duke's sister-in-law, Miss Larissa Walters, the women he left England to escape.

Larissa has struggled to put her past behind her and to overcome the abuses she suffered at the hands of Lord Moreland to whom her stepfather had owed a gambling debt. Spencer had saved her then, and now, she knows it is time to return the favor. She sets out on her own to show him, and perhaps herself, that she has the courage to face her fears...and to love him as he deserves. But all is not as it would seem at Kinraven. There is darkness there-plotting, lurking, waiting in the shadows to destroy whatever happiness they may find.

Can love truly conquer all, or will the darkness consume them both?

This is the third book in.a series of six. Each book in the Dark Regency Series features gothic elements, occult, or paranormal references and steamy, open door sex scenes.

Enjoyable

Narration was great. I really liked the story. The writing did well to never reveal too much too soon.

Amazing Story!

I originally read all three books in this series and reviewed them in January 2018. When the opportunity arose for me to listen to the audiobook of the third story I quickly requested a copy and listened to it.
The author, Chasity Bowlin knows how to cleverly combine a regency romance with a bit of heat, mystery, murder, good guys, bad guys and a bit of the occult, witches or special abilities thrown in for good measure.
Spencer, Earl of Kinraven, literally jumps out of the pot and straight into the frying pan when he tries to get away from the only woman he has every loved, Miss Larissa Walters.
What evolves is a brilliant story showing how love eventually wins and that evil people really don't have a chance when all is told.
Lillian Yves is the extremely talented narrator and her mix of voices certainly made this story even more real and believable.
I thoroughly enjoyed both the story and the audio version of it and highly recommend it to fans of gothic historical romance.
My voluntary and unbiased review above is given for the audio version of this book.

I enjoyed this audible with its gothic feel

Larissa and Spencer have obstacles on both sides to overcome. Spencer sends a desperate plea for help to his great friend Lord Briarleigh and Larissa (Lord Briarleigh's sister in law) intercepts the letter; which starts their adventure. Larissa heads off to Spencer's home in Scotland. But, she will be in for a surprise when she finds a curse, Spencer going mad & not much help from the servants. I enjoyed this audible with its gothic feel and mystery. I recommend it!

Deceit and Betrayal

Larissa and Spencer have loved each other for years but did not act on their feelings. When Larissa comes to Spencer's aid she finds him in a bad way and bizarre things happening in the mansion. She has to be diligent to figure the mysteries of the place.
Lillian Yves is outstanding as narrator for this book.

Good

I got this book via audiobook boom and this is my voluntary review. The story is filled with love, greed, passion, love, perseverance, disappointment, love. and a good plot. The narrator was not at it's best. But overall it was a good book

The Enticement of an Earl

This is another good Dark Regency book about Spencer and Larissa. Lillian Yves continues to do a great job with the narration. I received this free copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Magic, madness and... love:)

It's another book in the Dark Regency series and again I loved it. The series brilliantly weaves the elements of the occult, of magic, of the otherwordly into tales of passionate true love:)

It's book three, and it's the tale of the third gentleman from a small group of friends we got to know in book one - Spencer, the one who is always proper, who always follows the rules, for whom propriety seems to be everything... But Spencer has a secret - he's been in love with Larissa for years but he's never acted and he believes he will never act on his feelings... Especially now, when he is slowly falling into insanity... but what if Larissa is the only person who can help him?

It's again a powerful starting point for a romance that is also a brilliantly woven crime story, with the elements of magic and the occult adding to the overall Gothic feel of the tale. All we want from such stories is there: a secluded dilapidated castle somewhere on the Scottish moors, a strange ominous housekeeper walking up and down the halls, with warnings of a family curse spilling from her lips constantly, there's also a lord on the brink of madness and a girl who loves him and will do anything to save him, even if it is to cost her dearly... Add to it a really fast pace of the plot, characters that are memorable and complex, and you'll have a book you won't be able to put down until you finish. I know I couldn't:)

As with all the previous books in the series, the only fault I can find when it comes to narration is the pace of Ms Yves's reading - I'd like it to be a bit faster (but that's just me; I think most people will find it just about right). Other than that, I really like her interpretation of the books: she does the voices really well, they do match the personalities of the characters, and she's very good at actually bringing the stifling ominous Gothic feel of the books to life:) A job really well done:)

Sizzling paranormal romance!

This book was quite the scorcher, and I enjoyed it very much! Our main characters do not believe in the affection that they share for one another can be real because our heroine, Larissa, fears that Spencer, the newly-minted hero Earl of Kinraven knows too much of her past (of which she is ashamed but he does not revile her for it, knowing it is not her fault) but Instead harbors is only love & passion for her which he fears the mad-man that he believes has taken hold of him will harm her, so he has avoided her at all costs. Larissa chases him down though, and works to find the evil doers who are trying to unseat the Earl by poisoning him and using all other tactics to in order to make him feel as though he is going mad.

The fact that Larissa can see into Spencer’s mind & thoughts and know his feelings for her at last help the couple reach a HEA, but not without its bumps and mystery, nonstop action and passion along the way!

I have read other books by Chasity Bowlin, Actually, I had just finished the previous book in this series and wondered why ithe characters seems so familiar! (I listen to a lot of audiobooks so there’s my silly excuse!) The book works well as a standalone, and Chasity Bowlin’s writing is exceptional. If you are looking for a real scorcher of a novel, this is your author! The narrator, Lillian Yves, does a wonderful job with narrating the story and lending a sumptuous voice to each character, and keeps us hanging on until the very end. A sensuous tale written and narrated with flair and overall sumptuous passion, this book is a super-enjoyable listen!

I was given a free copy of this audiobook in exchange for a a review, and this is my honest opinion.

Great Read

The Enticement of an Earl (Dark Regency #3) was a great read by Chasity Bowlin. Spencer, Lord Wolverston and the Earl of Kinraven have found peace in Scotland. The new found peace comes crashing down around him when the woman he desires but cannot have, shows up on his doorstep. She is injured from a carriage accident. Miss Larissa Walters fled London, seeking out Lord Wolverston. She’s hoping that Spencer can save her again when old threats return. I enjoyed reading this book and cant wait to read more by the author.
