About this listen

The headline could write itself: Matthew Hawkins, star defensive end, comes out of retirement to play for the Washington Wolves. Which is perfectly fine by Ava Baker - it makes her job as publicist for the team easier.

There are only two problems. This particular football player was her first crush. The bigger problem: Matthew Hawkins was once engaged to her older sister.

It's been 10 years since Ava has seen Matthew. He's bigger, better looking, and best of all - completely single. Despite his history with her sister, the attraction between Ava and Matthew isn't so one-sided anymore. It's hot enough to burn down the entire city of Seattle.

But this headline is far more complicated to write. And not just for the press or what it means for her family - because once her heart is involved, there's no predicting the ending.

Contains mature themes.

Fun and Swoony

This book was so fun and so swoony. I found myself getting really mad at Ava's parents and sister until the very end, but I just loved how supportive Matthew was. Their story was so sweet and just perfect.

AI quality

There is an AI quality in the auditory of the narrators and that throws off the complete enjoyment.

Football Romance! Fantastic Audiobook

The narration for this book was spot on - they both portrayed the characters emotions and inner thoughts perfectly. Teddy was excellent as Matthew- I could imagine him both in the locker room or in the bedroom with Ava. And Lucy brought sophistication and class to Ava - I felt her pain and heartache like she was in the car with me.

The Story:

There is nothing better than sports romance - and I am not even a diehard sports fan outside of reading! This book highlighted why I love the genre, there is just something about the dedication and heart of sports players that makes me love them and everything surrounding them. So when you throw in a juicy detail like the hero being the sisters ex-fiancé - I am salivating to sink my teeth into the story and fall in love.

Matthew Hawkins was not ready to be done with Football- but his life long team was done with him- opting for younger,
uninjured replacements. So when the Washington Wolves are willing to take a chance on him - the last thing he expects to find in the front office is his ex-fiancés little sister. Always having a soft spot for her, the sexy, take no bull, vixen, who half the team is scared of, is not what he expected. Ava Baker loves her job, loves her team but anything involving her family is a painful, torturous event she’d rather avoid. So when Matthew waltzes into her office, surrounds her in a giant bear hug, she’s knows she is screwed and the wall she had built up around her heart doesn’t stand a chance.

The chemistry and past history between Matthew and Ava leads to some difficult situations and some sizzling moments as well but I loved every minute of it. I seriously needed a giant hug from Matthew as well to make it through certain scenes. I feel like a hug from a giant man like him could solve any problem. And Ava - her family always made her feel like second best and she let that dictate her actions- just like they wanted. I was glad to see her finally stand up to them and make her voice and opinions known - she is a powerful, important woman and didn’t deserve to be overlooked. I got chills reading the final chapter- I love when it all comes together and plays out like I hoped. 5 Stars for me!

Sports Romance Dream book

I loved the second book in this series, Ava and Matthew’s friends to lovers story played out so well in this book. Ava had some SMH head moments and I definitely felt Matthews heartbreak, held out for the HEA and it was worth it. Teddy Hamilton and Lucy Rivers together always makes for a great book. Sorensen is becoming one of my favorite authors. Use a credit on this one!

Romance and comedy

I like that the characters are carried over from one book to another through out the series

Matthew and Ava

I loved, adored and enjoyed every thing about this story. Matthew and Ava are absolutely perfect for one another, they may have a couple of little bumps in their road but their destination was beautiful. Great story!

Decent

I liked the beginning of Ava and Matthew story but the ending and the whole thing with Logan seemed unnecessary and rushed. It felt like the writer just wanted to give the story something but it failed. Ava for me started off strong but fail weak afterwards I almost stopped listening but me being me I had to find out how it ended even tho I sort of knew. If she stayed true and strong all the way thru would’ve made for a better listen, cause when it had something to do with her parents and sister she reverted back to the little insecure girl who needed their approval even tho she knew she wasn’t going to get it.

Family can be tough

When your family is the worst and judge you constantly. When you know your sister should have treated him better….and then you get the chance…..Sweet love story, sister gets the prize.
