Publisher's summary

From Wall Street Journal and Amazon Charts bestselling author Brittney Sahin, comes a sizzling love story between a morally gray hero who doesn’t believe in second chances, and the woman who will make him question everything.

Five years ago, a phone call forever changed my life as I listened to my wife being murdered half a world away.

Going rogue from the CIA, I became a man feared by everyone as I sought vengeance. Lies she’d told and secrets she’d kept, pushed me over an even darker edge.

With nothing to lose, I became unstoppable. A devil among men. Until justice was served, or so I’d thought it’d been . . .

Working alongside a team of veterans, trying to find my way back to the man I’d once been, another life-altering call came, drawing me back to the dark world I’d left behind.

The assignment should’ve been straightforward. Rescue a brilliant scientist working on a classified government project and save the nation from an attack while I was at it. But nothing in my life was ever simple.

When the missing scientist turned out to be the same off-limits woman I’d been obsessing over for months, saving her life was the easy part.

Not corrupting her in the process was the challenge. Especially when that gorgeous woman, innocent and untainted by the evils of the world, begged me to do exactly that.

Our past was complicated. The chemistry between us, undeniable. The desire to claim her as my own and never let go, unbearable.

My team may have been up against our most formidable threat ever, but there I was about to do something I never did. Lose my control.

Author’s Note: This is Carter Dominick’s book in the Falcon Falls Security Series. This romantic suspense novel may be listened to as a standalone.

The Best Morally Gray Hero. Ever.

Connor Crais and Ava Lucas did a phenomenal job bringing Carter and Diana to "life" in this reading of The Fallen One. I love this couple so much and the narration really brings your heart into it more; you truly feel some of Carter's struggles in it and you get a visceral reaction to many of those moments throughout the book. Honestly, to-date my favorite morally gray character I've ever read. Thank you for writing the perfect HEA for Carter.

I had been waiting for Carter's book for so long. Ive read all of the books and I can't wait for the next book to be released. it'll be sad for the end of the series but I'm sure we'll see the Falcon Falls group in books to come.

READ THIS BOOK! It is sexy, spicy, emotional, heart warming. Connor Crais is amazing. he is the best. Ava Lucas was fine. she reads kind of slow and makes me tired at times. other than that, read this book. I loved the length. so much detail. I loved how far Carter came. very full story.

Great story and narration

Once again I was lucky enough to get an advance copy. To see the total change in all that Carter has been portrayed in previous books was amazing. The career choice his wife forced him to do and her manipulations. Who would ever picture Carter taking selfies! Diana broke down all his walls. And I love that fork scene at the Sapphire is still going strong! Brittney Sahin has once again weaved a great story with twists and turns and her usual suspense and love stories. Love when Brittney has Connor Crais and Ava Lucas. They do such a great job of bringing her characters to life.

Carter and Diana!

Carter and Diana met years ago when he rescued her and her mom. Seeing Carter transition from Delta operator, CIA agent to morally grey man set on revenge was wonderful. The bond that developed between Carter and Diana was swoon-worthy. They are true soul mates. Dallas is adorable. Connor Crais and Ava Lucas were absolutely phenomenal in their roles as Carter and Diana. They really brought this story to life. I received this audiobook for free upon my request. I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased review.

An Absolutely Extraordinary Experience

It’s no secret that Brittney Sahin is an absolutely brilliant writer.  She weaves words and stories with extraordinary power. And she once again wielded her talent with Carter Dominick’s story of The Fallen One. He’s been a long time coming, and he did not disappoint!!!

Carter is a multifaceted man. He’s former elite military, former CIA, by the book. He’s also a man that went rogue when the life he thought he knew spiraled out of control. We now see a man that’s trying to right the world’s wrongs even if he is a bit morally grey in his administrations.  He’s definitely even more of an enigma as we’ve gotten to know his whole story.

Carter has fought demons from his past. They’ve made him the man he is today.  He sees himself as broken with no hope of redemption.  He’s just a man existing.  But when a piece of his past comes calling, he can’t refuse to answer the call, even though that puzzle piece is a beautiful woman that he shouldn’t be thinking of. There’s just something about Diana that he can’t resist. Every single meeting these two have had has held significance neither anticipated.

Diana is political royalty and an exceptional scientist in her own right. So much so, she’s become a target and possible political leverage. Cue Carter to save the woman he can’t seem to forget or escape.

These two are brought together and have to solve a political problem that could cause irrevocable harm to the world, all while fighting their attraction, their pasts, and personal fears.

Carter captured my heart long ago. And now I’m so invested in this man finding his way home to happiness, forgiveness, and a chance at love. And finally getting answers to what made this man into the dark shadow he had become was an incredible journey.  Add in a furry sidekick and our Falcon Fall team and well, this is some of Sahin’s best work, which says a lot since she delivers nothing but perfection!

The narration duo of Connor Crais and Ava Lucas was outstanding. These two just came together effortlessly. Crais brought Carter to life for me. From his irritation and anger, to his desperation and fear as well as his falling for Diana. And Lucas gave us one fierce heroine. They transitioned to other characters without missing a beat. I highly recommend this listening experience!

Awesome storyline and narration!

I really enjoyed Carter and Diana’s book because of the emotional intensity of their first meeting and the mysterious way their paths diverge over the years long storyline. The mysterious nature of Carter’s tumultuous marriage plays a huge part in the story and I was absolutely engrossed in the suspense filled doomsday storyline and the growing intimacy between Carter and Diana. I have been enthralled with Carter from his first appearance in Brittney’s books and his journey from Special OPs team guy to grieving husband to morally grey character getting vengeance for her s wife’s murder has been expertly conceived and written. With plenty of well conceived plot twists, numerous complex relationships between team mates, and strong Alpha personalities Brittney’s catalogue is well worth exploring. I loved this book so much I purchased the audiobook version and I’m so glad I did because of the excellent narration performances of Connor Crais and Ava Lucas who are two of the best in the business.

Just okay

Way too long. Also confusing at times with all the characters and drama. I found myself tuning out. Female narrator’s male voice is not good.
