Publisher's summary

In the wake of a dying man’s apparent suicide, the skeleton of a young woman is discovered on a windswept hillside. Detective Hjalti Hentze suspects that it is the body of a Norwegian woman reported missing 40 years earlier, while a commune occupied the land, and whose death may be linked to the abduction and rape of a local Faroese girl.

Meanwhile British DI Jan Reyna is pursuing his investigation into his mother’s suicide. But as he learns more about her final days, links between the two cases start to appear: a conspiracy of murder and abuse spanning four decades. And as Hentze puts the same pieces together, he realises that Reyna is willing to go further than ever before to learn the truth....

Loved the Trilogy

Excellent trilogy. I knew nothing about the Faroe Islands before this, but I read some things about them. Such interesting books & be prepared to get a glimpse of real evil.

Best of Three

This book is very well done in both story and performance. It is important to have read books one and two and essential to have read at least book two. The story in book 3 stands on its own but knowing the prior books helps with the flow. Some excellent twists and turns throughout none of which are beyond belief. The story telling is excellent with different voices and accents. This should be the beginning of a super series just like Bosch (Michael Connelly). In short, its an excellent listen.

Excellent stories read the whole series. Brilliant!

There aren’t ten more books. 🥹Hopefully more are on the way soon. Enjoy this style of writing.

A very satisfying read

I really enjoyed all three books in the Faroes trilogy. This was my favorite, although the first two were excellent as well. More action in this one and the plot moved quickly as a result. I also enjoyed the narration. I definitely recommend it.

Terrific

The whole trilogy is excellent. Intellectually so[histicated, great plots, very good writing as well as great narrator. The very best of,Scandinavian crime mysteries.

Slow start, but stay with it.

My one frustration with this narrator is the slow reading, particularly at the beginning of books. I almost gave up in total frustration with this one, but kept with it.

One of my favorite series.

Chris Ould has written three amazing books that have great and rich characters. His writing transposed me to the locations and gives me that sense of being right there. I have about 4 boos series that I could read or listen to anytime, this is one.

Matt Addis gives a wonderful performance, clearly differentiating each character. His accents and vocal inflections are great.

Much worse than first two

While I liked his first two books, this one seemed disconnected and rushed in its unsatisfying conclusion. It really wasn't part of a Faroe trilogy so much as a book about Danish crimes and the characters were left dangling at the end. Good narrator though.
