About this listen

Former FBI profiler James Fitzgerald talks about his work on the Unabom Task Force that ultimately helped lead to the arrest of Ted Kaczynski on April 3. 1996. Fitzgerald also discusses how his story was turned into the character portrayed so convincingly by actor Sam Worthington throughout the eight episodes of Discovery Channel’s original scripted series, Manhunt: Unabomber.

In The Fitz Files -Manhunt Unabomber, James Fitzgerald shares the story of his involvement in the team that arrested Ted Kaczynski and takes you behind the scenes of the making of the series Manhunt: Unabomber by talking to those directly involved in its creation and production. That will include the director, the head writer, a cocreator, the property master, the set decorator, and a forensic linguist. Fitzgerald also provides insight as the series’ consulting producer, its protagonist, and most importantly, was also the actual profiler who worked the actual Unabomber case in the mid-1990s.

It’s like having a private insider-conversation with a legendary FBI agent!

Jim “Fitz” Fitzgerald describes his experiences investigating the notorious Unabomber as an FBI Profiler as well as developing the innovative application of Forensic Linguistics. The podcast/audiobook format feels as though you’re enjoying a cup of coffee in a private conversation with elite investigators and Hollywood insiders! My favorite aspect was learning the real events apart from the dramatized artful additions. Epic story! Highly recommended.

Details We Never Heard Before... Amazing

Full disclosure... I have worked with Fitz for quite some time, but I still learned quite a bit from this audiobook.

I was always interested in The Unabomber case, more so after working with Fitz. Honestly, after talking to Fitz personally and reading his books, I thought I knew everything about the case. Somehow, Fitz managed to uncover even more details about the case that had me glued to the speaker as I listened to each episode.

I don't care if you have seen the Discovery series, read the books, and/or heard Fitz's countless interviews and lectures, I guarantee there will be some tidbits in here you never heard before. Enjoy!

A Five-Star Must-Listen!!!

I listened to the The Fitz Files: Manhunt Unabomber and WOW! What a great companion to the Netflix series! I had to re-watch the shows just so I could pick out all the "Fitz's Five Facts vs Fiction" nuggets and behind-the-scenes details as described by the Real Fitz and his fascinating guests on The Fitz Files. I really liked the way each episode was dissected and explained, as well as getting the real scoop on the TV characters and use of Hollywood's artistic license. A few facts may surprise you! Plus who doesn't love a little FBI serial killer catching?

I'm a big fan of shows like the Manhunt: Unabomber series on Netflix because they shine a light on the unsung heroes that tirelessly protect our country, of which I'm also a big fan. (Thank you, Fitz!!!) So, if you liked the hit series, then you have to check out The Fitz Files: Manhunt Unabomber! You will not be disappointed!

Another great account from James R. Fitzgerald. I can't wait to hear about his next journey!
