Story
Said to be a changeling child left to the King and Queen of Cornwall, Gwendolyn is "blessed" at her cradle by three Fae gifts: a prophecy for her future, a gift of "Reflection," and a golden mane-quite literally, every lock of her hair will turn to gold, only provided it is cut by her one true love. Yet no one understands more than Gwendolyn that her blessings are actually curses. Any man who gazes upon her will see his own heart reflected in her countenance, and depending upon his virtue, she is the loveliest woman in all the land… or the most hideous.

Story
Reverend Augustus Shackleford's mission in life (aside from ensuring the collection box was suitably full every Sunday) was to secure advantageous marriages for each of his eight daughters. A tall order, given the fact that in the Reverend's opinion they didn't possess a single ladylike bone in the eight bodies they had between them. Quite where he would find a wealthy titled gentleman bottle headed enough to take any of them on remained a mystery and indeed was likely to test even his legendary resourcefulness.

Publisher's summary
Málik Danann reveals his true self... and his true heart. But even with a Fae Prince by her side, Gwendolyn of Cornwall is not assured victory against Locrinus, the Usurper.
Indeed, she may have come to understand the true meaning of her prophecy, but now she must rise to her destiny and become the First Queen to unite Pretania's fractured tribes—a daunting task, when the people have lost hope, and the land itself is dying.
The Doom of Men will not simply depend upon whether a slip of a girl can rally mortal men to fight a flesh-and-blood foe. To save her kingdom, the people must remember a time of magic, and it is within the Fae realm Gwendolyn will find the key to reignite hope—The Tuatha'an Sword of Light.
But there are forces beyond her understanding—dark creatures that would stop at nothing to keep her from her goal. While she intends to enter the Underworld with a Prince by her side, Gwendolyn’s greatest perils await. She will be tested by a Fae king whose hatred for humanity is strong.
Part 3 of an exciting, new series by Tanya Anne Crosby.

To much repetition
It took me a bit to get going I feel like to much whining. I liked parts of the story but seemed liked too much of the same inner monologue that just seemed to ramble on…

Repeated monologues of unending pining after MML
The storyline and world building was great in book 1, then the story became obsessed with repeated monologues of the MFL obsessing over the MML. There'd be a sentence or two to progress the story, then go back to paragraphs of soppy moping and pining. The actual story progression became so stillted that you could actually miss when the monologues paused for the plot, only to go back into the internal monologue. The monologues also repeat the same self pity of romantic inadequacy so that the reader just completly zones out for whole sections. Very exasperating.

Riveting!
This is the third in The Goldenchild Prophesy series and to say I am hooked is an understatement. I spent the last week listening while on two airplanes, while driving, while doing chores, and any other time I could sneak in a few moments.
It's that good.
As with the previous books, The Cornish Princess and the Queen's Huntsman, the narrator is wonderful. She makes it so easy to get fully immersed in the story.
This is a well-crafted tale with a very strong female lead. I highly recommend the entire series and am looking forward to the next installment!

And so it continues...
Helping Gwendolyn, Málik Danann reveals who he really is –a Prince and that he truly is in love with Gwendolyn but tries hard not to reveal that. Even with Malik by Gwendolyn is not assured victory in gaining back her father’s kingdom as many have taken side with Prince Loc. But one thing can help her and The Tuatha'an Sword of Ligh she must retrieve from the Fae realm and the dark creatures she must encounter on her way to the Fae realm Even with Malik by her side things are not easy for either of them. Like the previous books, this one has you waiting for the next book and the narrator has done a fabulous job in the telling!
