Penguin presents the audiobook edition of The Fork, the Witch and the Worm by Christopher Paolini.
A wanderer and a cursed child.
Spells and magic.
And dragons, of course.
Welcome back to the world of Alagaësia.
It's been a year since Eragon departed Alagaësia in search of the perfect home to train a new generation of Dragon Riders. Now he is struggling with an endless sea of tasks: constructing a vast dragonhold, wrangling with suppliers, guarding dragon eggs and dealing with belligerent Urgals and haughty elves. Then a vision from the Eldunarí, unexpected visitors and an exciting Urgal legend offer a much-needed distraction and a new perspective.
This volume features three original stories set in Alagaësia, interspersed with scenes from Eragon's own unfolding adventure. Included is an excerpt from the memoir of the unforgettable witch and fortune-teller Angela the herbalist, penned by Angela Paolini, the inspiration for the character, herself!
Relish the incomparable imagination of Christopher Paolini in this thrilling new collection of stories based in the world of the Inheritance Cycle.

This book picks up a year after the events of The Inheritance Cycle (I won't spoil this book, but if you haven't read Inheritance I can't promise you won't have anything spoiled for you in this review), and we catch up with Eragon and Saphira as they deal with the aftermath of Galbatorix's reign. By way of a short narrative we touch on the three short stories of 'The Fork', 'The Witch', and 'The Worm'.
Along the way we get to check in with Murtagh and Thorn & Angela, Elva and Solembum (sorry not sorry Erya shippers.) While an unexpedted surprise at the end had me in ridiculous, uncontainable, undeniable, joyfyl tears (I've been in this fandom for over 10 years, sue me) I didn't feel like this was strong enough to warrant a higher rating.
While I would 100% be interested in a full fledged return to Alagaesia, I wouldn't settle for anything less than the best from Mr. Paolini.
I also have grievances with the title and cover because I am that girl. (This didn't factor into my rating)
Listen, I understand this isn't part of TIC but for continuity's sake they could've tried to make the physical aspects of this book more cohesive. For one it is much, much shorter than the original four (even shorter than regular hardcovers) though I'm sure that is to account for the fact that this book is under 300 pages, which is unheard of for Paolini. Also, the title, 'The Fork, The Witch, and The Worm' is a little too reminiscent to 'The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe' in my opinion.
That said, if you loved TIC, you will probably enjoy this.

A very good hold over until another book is made

However, after the wait of 7 years to be presented with this... Rather keep quiet until another quality work kan be published than to do this, and loose the confidence and support of you fan-base.
What a disappointment after the long wait!
