About this listen
This classic story is filled with all kinds of teachings, from Ram Dass playing on the Wurlitzer of Wisdoms, to the Tibetan wheel-of-life, to Sufi stories, all woven into a humorous adventure taking place in an old mansion called Inverness. The mansion has three towers, but Jack Flanders has seen a fourth. When he finally enters the tower, he discovers there are various levels, and each level contains another world.

Story
Once upon a time, in the magical land of San Francisco, there lived a not-so-ordinary girl named Laurel Pettigrew. She was supposed to be the Chosen One. The plan was simple: She would vanquish the great evil Tybus in an epic battle. But destiny had other ideas, and Laurel's performance in the whole heroics department was a colossal flop. Now, instead of being a legendary hero, Laurel's the resident pariah of the magic realm. And what’s worse, the dark wizard Tybus swooped in, took over the realm, and forced all supernatural creatures to live under his tyrannical rule.

Eccentric, fascinating show, philosophical twist
Incredible show, love the characters and their eccentricities. Love the voice of the narrator and the rest of the cast. First heard when I was a child. Great for all ages. Similar yet different appreciation for it now. Truly takes me away with them in Inverness and it's outer limits. Philosophical twists and turns as well, levels of spirituality that I truly appreciate.

Quirky fun
I’m a Meatball Fulton fan so I liked this. This is a fantasy mixed with philosophy, music, strange characters who have moral lessons. A real mash up of psychology, Eastern beliefs, music and family that shouldn’t work but does. I do admit this is not for everybody, if you find yourself struggling to get into this book try taking another run at it from the books beginning before you return it.

Fourth Tower
The Fourth Tower does not disappoint. Intriguing characters develop as the story unfolds. The sound effects are excellent. First heard this back in college during early 70's and fell in love with the Fourth Tower. Now it's just as brilliant.

Well...
I remember my dad listening to this on tape 35 years ago and thinking it was kind of cool. It's a cool story, sometimes hard to follow, but still entertaining. A 70's nod to the radio serials of the past with a Buddhist twist. Audio cameos by Ram Dass!

I really enjoyed this serial. I had heard it on xm radio on their audiobook channel (that sadly enough doesn't exist anymore) years ago. The other Jack Flanders stories are also worth a listen.

Original Jack Flanders adventure, maybe the best.
This story has it all, including some goofiness at the end. But then, it's the goofiness and the fun that make it worth hearing. There's mystical adventures, lush, descriptive language, New Age philosophy, character voice acting, monsters, silly puns, witty dialog combined with witless nonsense, music, special effects... you name it. Let's not forget the Demented Demon Dwarves. It's a fun "ride" that is worth repeating.

A bit of great love and adventure .
This classic is one of the 70's greatest ! I listened to it back in the beginning days of public radio with eager ears. A true labor of love, thought, and all round great entertainment. Thank you !

Escapism to the existential degree
Lovely stroll through mythical world's and random interjections of philosophy while solving a plethora of mysterious circumstances.
