Publisher's summary

Are you looking for an introduction to philosophy? Are you one of the beginners in seeking out the answers to life’s most important questions?

Then you will find The Fragments of Parmenides and Heraclitus with an Introduction to the Philosophy of the Presocratics for Beginners richly rewarding.

If you have attempted to read Parmenides, Heraclitus, or the other Presocratics before, you may have found their metaphorical style of philosophical writing difficult to understand.

You will find this audiobook clear and easy to follow. It starts off by giving you an explanation of the ideas of the Presocratic philosophers.

It provides background to the concepts of the different schools of Presocratic thought, such as the Milesians, the Pythagoreans, the Eleatics, the Atomists, and the Sophists.

There are also introductions to the writings of Parmenides and Heraclitus, which provide guidance on how to interpret the philosophies of each of these great thinkers.

This is followed by two versions of the 19 fragments of Parmenides and two versions of the 130 fragments of Heraclitus.

The first version of each of the philosophical fragments is written in easy-to-understand modern-day English.

The second version of each is a literary poetic version that is written in 19th century English.

This audiobook will help you think more deeply about abiding and universal philosophical issues such as:

  • How we can find unity in diversity
  • How we can live in self-awareness
  • Why we should refuse to accept the opinions of others to live our best life
  • How we can remain open to the fullness of life and all of life’s possibilities

Embark on your philosophical adventure of self-discovery with this great audiobook!

Very instructive

Wish we had more than fragments of the Pre Socratic philosophers and Scientist. Love to study Theogony ,and how it evolved into Science.Very useful for a sounder understanding of Physics.Audible needs to have more books on Pre Socratic authors.Thank you Plato and Aristotle as well as those who burnt down the Library of Alexandria. Thanks to them Fragments is all we have. There are many informative books on this subject. In hard back and paper back.Grateful to have this book on Audible.
