About this listen
The new paradigm for investing and building wealth in the 21st century. The Future for Investors reveals new strategies that take advantage of the dramatic changes and opportunities that will appear in world markets.
Jeremy Siegel, one of the world’s top investing experts, has taken a long, hard, and in-depth look at the market and the stocks that investors should acquire to build long-term wealth. His surprising finding is that the new technologies, expanding industries, and fast-growing countries that stockholders relentlessly seek in the market often lead to poor returns. In fact, growth itself can be an investment trap, luring investors into overpriced stocks and overly competitive industries. The Future for Investors shatters conventional wisdom and provides a framework for picking stocks that will be long-term winners.
While technological innovation spurs economic growth, it has not been kind to investors. Instead, companies that have marketed tried-and-true products for decades in slow-growth or even declining industries have superior returns to firms that develop “the bold and the new.” Industry sectors many regard as dinosaurs - railroads and oil companies, for example - have actually beat the market.
Professor Siegel presents these strategies within the context of the coming shift in global economic power and the demographic age wave that will sweep the United States, Europe, and Japan. Contrary to the popular belief that these economic and demographic trends doom investors to poor returns, Professor Siegel explains the True New Economy and how to take advantage of the coming surge in invention, discovery, and economic growth.
The faster the world changes, the more important it is for investors to heed the lessons of the past and find the tried-and-true companies that can help you beat the market and prosper in the years ahead.

Critic reviews
“Jeremy Siegel has done us a great service with his superb work. While no one can predict the future of stocks with certainty, Siegel’s analysis marks the verdict of history: the triumph of the shareholder over the shareflipper, the investor over the speculator, the builder over the gambler. Strong conclusions, good writing, and a refreshing message make this a compelling and important book to read.” (Jim Collins, author of Good to Great and co-author of Built to Last)
“Jeremy Siegel is a wise man and an astute observer of the ever-changing investment universe. The Future for Investors is essential for the professional and serious amateur investor to navigate the new era.” (Barton M. Biggs, managing partner, Traxis Partners)
“Jeremy Siegel’s lively new book is much more than a typical Siegelian guide to asset allocation. It is a masterful, provocative, fact-stuffed, commonsense, and creative guide to profitable stock-picking strategies. Even the most cynical and experienced investors will gain from reading Siegel’s latest contribution to their well-being.” (Peter L. Bernstein, author of Against the Gods: The Remarkable Story of Risk)

William Bernstein's commonsense approach to portfolio construction has served investors well during the past turbulent decade - and it's what made The Four Pillars of Investing an instant classic when it was first published nearly a decade ago. This down-to-earth book lays out in easy-to-understand prose the four essential topics that every investor must master: the relationship of risk and reward, the history of the market, the psychology of the investor and the market, and the folly of taking financial advice from investment salespeople.

The finance sector of Western economies is too large and attracts too many of the smartest college graduates. Financialization over the past three decades has created a structure that lacks resilience and supports absurd volumes of trading. The finance sector devotes too little attention to the search for new investment opportunities and the stewardship of existing ones, and far too much to secondary-market dealing in existing assets. Regulation has contributed more to the problems than the solutions.

Story
William Bernstein's commonsense approach to portfolio construction has served investors well during the past turbulent decade - and it's what made The Four Pillars of Investing an instant classic when it was first published nearly a decade ago. This down-to-earth book lays out in easy-to-understand prose the four essential topics that every investor must master: the relationship of risk and reward, the history of the market, the psychology of the investor and the market, and the folly of taking financial advice from investment salespeople.

Story
The finance sector of Western economies is too large and attracts too many of the smartest college graduates. Financialization over the past three decades has created a structure that lacks resilience and supports absurd volumes of trading. The finance sector devotes too little attention to the search for new investment opportunities and the stewardship of existing ones, and far too much to secondary-market dealing in existing assets. Regulation has contributed more to the problems than the solutions.

The international monetary system has collapsed three times in the past hundred years, in 1914, 1939, and 1971. Each collapse was followed by a period of tumult: War, civil unrest, or significant damage to the stability of the global economy. Now James Rickards, the acclaimed author of Currency Wars, shows why another collapse is rapidly approaching - and why this time, nothing less than the institution of money itself is at risk.

In Fault Lines, Rajan argues that serious flaws in the economy are also to blame, and warns that a potentially more devastating crisis awaits us if they aren't fixed.

Spread through the public in the form of popular stories, ideas can go viral and move markets - whether it's the belief that tech stocks can only go up or that housing prices never fall. Whether true or false, stories like these - transmitted by word of mouth, by the news media, and increasingly by social media - drive the economy by driving our decisions about how and where to invest, how much to spend and save, and more. But despite the obvious importance of such stories, most economists have paid little attention to them. Narrative Economics sets out to change that.

Outstanding
I haven't enjoyed a investing book like this since, Peter Lynch's, One up on Wall Street. Some interesting predictions (facts) about the future and what stocks you should invest in...dividend stocks with International exposure.

Great Advice!
Any additional comments?
This book helped me so much! Talks about value investing and why, where to invest, etc. Talks about the key things being reinvesting dividends, getting stocks at good prices (low PE, and PEG of less than .5), etc. Makes so much sense and is interesting! Combines Warren Buffet and Peter Lynch with his own research and findings! Loved it!

A Great Book
I'm a Registered Investment Advisor with 45+ years of Wall Street experience. I loved the book. Great for novices and for the experienced. Important information clearly explained. No, I'm NOT related to the author.

Hardcopy is better than audio format
The book itself is great. Extremely edifying. However, the audio format is not the best for a book that is full of statistics and charts. You might get more out of it from a hardcopy.

Very Educational
What made the experience of listening to The Future for Investors the most enjoyable?
This was very educational. I found myself having to listen to several parts multiple times to fully grasp the concepts being discussed. I will probably listen to the entire book again in the near future.

Lifetime Investment Strategy
I first read this book in 2005 and review time time. Pages 6 thru 12 are more than worth the price of the whole book. Pages 6 thru 12 changed my whole outlook on how to invest ever since, now being 2018.
