About this listen

Another thrilling adventure featuring John Wells, the deep cover CIA operative from the number one New York Times best-selling author of The Faithful Spy and The Deceivers.

John Wells barely survived his homecoming when it was thought he’d become too close to the terrorists. Though his wounds have healed, his mind is far from clear. He needs to get back in the fight. And there is a fight waiting for him.

A power play in China is causing chaos around the globe. And even as Wells does what he does best, a mole within the CIA is preparing to light the final fuse that will propel an unsuspecting world toward open war and annihilation. And this time, there may be nothing John Wells can do to stop it....

Critic reviews

“A very sophisticated vision...Geopolitically savvy.” (The New York Times)

“A fast-paced story of international intrigue and espionage...Wells is a fine character who will likely propel Berenson’s thrillers to success for some time to come.” (Chicago Sun-Times)

Yawn

Nor bad just a bit too implausible. Good book if you don't want to think. Wells surviving experiences that would kill a normal human is getting redundant.

Fascinated

This book was probably better than the first one, the story was so captivating from the beginning to end. I can't wait to get started with the next book. I am a fan for life of Alex Berenson, great series. You would enjoy it too, don't miss out on it.

Excellent Read for Mitch Rapp Fans

I started Mitch Rapp about 2 years ago. It's been a wonderful ride since but i finished all 15 books and was left wanting something more.

Well. I found that George Guidall (amazing voice actor) narrated this series and decided to give it a try. It was hard not to compare the main characters to each other. I often had to stop myself from asking what Mitch would he done. On the other hand, the authors have their own unique styles and I love how much detail was given in this book to tertiary characters. It added a new dimension I wasn't expecting.

Great story. Great plot. Interesting protagonist. Excellent performance. 5/5!

2nd Wells Adventure

Without real Vince Flynn novels or a good Silva book I'm checking out other authors. So far plots of Wells series thought out but not enough political theory or historical detail in these books to really catch my interest. But George Guidal always saves the day.

I'd listen to George Guidall recite the tax code

Enjoyed the first book but once I saw George Guidall was narrating the rest in the John Wells series I quickly ordered it. Nothing against the narrator in the first book but Guidall really adds a new dimension of pleasure in listening to The Ghost War. The story was great, sort of reminds me of the Mitch Rapp series which is my all-time espionage/thriller series. Looking forward to continuing the series and seeing how the characters evolve.

China Oversimpified

Action... but predictable. Character development... but on the wrong players. China decision - making appears on the level of PTA meetings.
