Publisher's summary

A contemporary novel about a baby boy abandoned near the Miccosukee Reservation in the Florida Everglades west of Miami. The surrounding community of Native American neighbors adopt and raise the young John Doe as their own, and when they realize that John has the ability to come and go with such stealth that his communal family members seldom notice, he is given the surname Ghostwalker.

John Ghostwalker is a kindhearted and precocious young man, a superior student, and a socially peculiar human being. He has an almost obsessive need for a secret sanctuary where he can find respite from a world he sometimes finds quite overwhelming as he follows his dream to become an accomplished architect.

The Ghostwalker File is, first and foremost, a book about self-discovery and the importance of community, but it is also a love story that may restore your belief in soul mates.

Thoroughly enjoyed this story!

If you're reading this review you're wondering why I like the story so much. I would have to say it is because the main character always lived true to himself. And, I loved the way the community that had adopted him loves and cares for him so unconditionally. It Illustrated so well the uncomplicated life that some people live and how simple we could all live. the story was kind of a feel-good story even though they go through hardship and struggles. It's really nice to have one of those once in awhile.

The underlying message being that the most important thing is loving others and doing everything we can to care for one another even though we live in a society that is built upon a certain level of conformity as to what everybody else thinks is a normal life . I thought the story did a very good job of showing how the charitable mindset can allow normal citizens to make a big change in the needs of society. Government programs can not do this. They can provide shelter and give away food, they can give away just enough money for them to be dependent on them, but they can never restore a person to their true potential.

Interesting

It took me a few chapters to get into the story. I couldn't figure it out. I'm used to books that jump straight into action or romance or intrigue. This book seemed to be going nowhere. Yet I kept listening. Next thing I know I'm into it. I'm interested in the characters and in finding out where the story was taking them. I ended so listening to the entire book in one sitting. There were parts I wasn't as interested in, but the book kept my attention until the end. And I liked how it ended.

The narrator did a decent job. It took me a bit to get used to him but by the end I couldn't imagine Ghostwalker being voiced by anyone else.

I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a story about someone on their life's journey, meeting those that'll play large roles in their life, and finally finding themselves and their destined path in life.

One to make you smile

Would you consider the audio edition of The Ghostwalker File to be better than the print version?

This is a great story to listen to as it elicits a lot of good feelings. I enjoyed the characters, particularly the main character, and I found his story arc entertaining and thought-provoking.

What does Jim Foster bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Jim does a nice job of making the story flow and voicing the different characters. I always enjoy listening to his deep, rich voice.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

If you have a social conscience about the environment, the homeless, the underdog, this book will speak to your soul.

We should all have some 'ghostwalker' in us

Any additional comments?

This is a story about a boy, his position in the world, and the connectedness of it all.

Ghostwalker was a person but his spirit took center stage in this listen. You had to appreciate his "circle of life" mentality and his desire to care for things, big and small. I really enjoyed getting to know this character and his world.

The narrator was perfect. Ghostwalker did not speak a lot so when he did, the narration made you take notice.

I don't know if this listen is for everyone but I definitely enjoyed it.

Found as a babe, Ghostwalker must find himself.

Growing up on a Native American reservation is far from the most unusual thing about John Ghostwalker. Adept at anything he puts his mind to Ghostwalker cruises through life without really making any true connections around him. He has his tribe family but no one really knows him. Follow Ghostwalker on a tale of learning and excitement that shows even the true snowflakes among us can be understood and loved.

Kevin Robinson's story start off exceptionally well. The book keeps you wanting to hear more. While the tale continues and the characters keep to their true selfs some of the plot feels forced or too easy. I wish Mr. Robinson would have take the time to do the story the justice it deserves. While it does have some deficits the story is unique and the characters develop to be people you want to learn more about so please give it a try. This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Just okay

The beginning of this book stared out great but it started to fizzle out by the middle of the book. I found myself restarting chapters because the book had lost my attention. The narrator did a good job.
