About this listen

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series continues in this “engrossing” novel (USA Today) as brilliant hacker Lisbeth Salander teams up with journalist Mikael Blomkvist to uncover the secrets of her childhood and take revenge. • Also known as the Millennium series

Lisbeth Salander—obstinate outsider, volatile seeker of justice for herself and others—seizes on a chance to unearth her mysterious past once and for all. And she will let nothing stop her—not the Islamists she enrages by rescuing a young woman from their brutality; not the prison gang leader who passes a death sentence on her; not the deadly reach of her long-lost twin sister, Camilla; and not the people who will do anything to keep buried knowledge of a sinister pseudoscientific experiment known only as The Registry. Once again, Lisbeth Salander and Mikael Blomkvist are the fierce heart of a thrilling full-tilt novel that takes on some of the world's most insidious problems.

Critic reviews

"[Narrator Simon] Vance's extraordinary talent comes through in the tense dramatic scenes involving a research study of twins gone awry and in his special ability to differentiate men, women, young, and old from all over the globe." (AudioFile)

Kept Waiting For More

This story just felt very superficial compared to the others. I kept waiting for it to get started. Then it was over. It was entirely too neat and tidy at the end as well. It felt forced and rushed.

The narrator, as always, was outstanding.

Weak storyline.

As a fan of this series I don't seem to be able to skip one of the books. Unfortunately, the last two have been disappointing. Boring, trite and easy to put down.

black mark on an otherwise enjoyable series

I have enjoyed all the books before this in the series however the girl who took an eye for an eye had none of the excitement or suspense I have come to enjoy. rather than solving a mystery it seems the characters just had the story laid out in front of them.

Can't wait for the next book in this series

Excellent narration & story line. Simon Vance is at the top of his game.

I wish they would make a movie of each of her books.

Please hurry up and write the next!!!!!!

Another Great Addition to Stieg Larssons Creation!

I was originally captivated by the original Swedish Triology of Salander and her adventures and afflictions. The Swedish movies are absolutely riveting! I was hooked!! When I saw this audobook was out, again continuing Salander's life, I had to get it and start listening. I couldn't stop or even want to pause it at anytime. Though you can tell it was not Larsson who wrote it, I still so much enjoyed this audio book!! Definitely a must have audiobook for those that are wondering!!

Not as good as the other four

I am a huge fan of this series. Loved the first three and was very glad when someone else continued it with the fourth book. And I loved where the new author took that fourth book. So I was very disappointed when I read this latest one. Without giving much away, it felt like the author was trying to use a similar plot line from the first three books here in the latest, without the success the original plot line accomplished. Which left this story line weak and unsatisfying, at least to me. I think there is something there from the fourth book that could be continued, but this storyline needs to be dropped and forgotten.
I do enjoy the narrator however, and hope they continue with him.

Another good read, but...

I love reading about Lisbeth ... but I'm hoping this is the final chapter in the saga. This book was again intriguing, but I felt as if the plot was more predictable than the prior books. I still recommend it. Finishes in an acceptably good place to leave the characters for the readers personal version of "ever after".

Fulfillment of Fears Foretold

First of all, sorry for that title, it's a little cheesy. However, the fifth installment of this series continues heading in an... unfortunate direction. Where the first book was personal and gripping with stunning characters who live and breathe in an obviously lovingly crafted world, the fifth book shoots for a plot that's too large and the characters have begun to fall flat under the new author. Simon Vance's narration is once again an absolute treat, however. I would recommend this to those looking to continue the series and those who enjoy Vance's work. If you're on the fence after the fourth novel, I'd say you can pass on this one.
