About this listen

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series continues in this “engrossing” novel (USA Today) as brilliant hacker Lisbeth Salander teams up with journalist Mikael Blomkvist to uncover the secrets of her childhood and take revenge. • Also known as the Millennium series

Lisbeth Salander—obstinate outsider, volatile seeker of justice for herself and others—seizes on a chance to unearth her mysterious past once and for all. And she will let nothing stop her—not the Islamists she enrages by rescuing a young woman from their brutality; not the prison gang leader who passes a death sentence on her; not the deadly reach of her long-lost twin sister, Camilla; and not the people who will do anything to keep buried knowledge of a sinister pseudoscientific experiment known only as The Registry. Once again, Lisbeth Salander and Mikael Blomkvist are the fierce heart of a thrilling full-tilt novel that takes on some of the world's most insidious problems.

Critic reviews

"[Narrator Simon] Vance's extraordinary talent comes through in the tense dramatic scenes involving a research study of twins gone awry and in his special ability to differentiate men, women, young, and old from all over the globe." (AudioFile)

Story was just ok, voice was better.

I thoroughly enjoy the stories of Stieg Larsson, but this felt like someone was just adding on to the series to add to a series. The story was ok and enough to pass the time, but the substance was filler. In Larsson's books, there is so much story told in the small actions. I missed that in this story. I could really tell the difference in the writers.

The best and the worst!!

"The Girl in The Spiders Web" I have enjoyed
The most of the first 5 in the series. I've listened to it at least a dozen times!! The First 3 novels I've listened to at least 3 times each. Also watched the original movies a couple of times each also.
However, "The Girl Who Takes An Eye For an Eye" - I don't think I will listen to this one again!! I was expecting a lot more!!

alright not great

I was hoping for more. I do love the character of Elisbeth. A small brilliant women. that stands up for unfortunate and helpless.

One of the best series I have ever read! A must!

The dynamics of this series of books is so different than most novels. I especially enjoy how the stories build on the past narratives, but each stands alone as a great read. David Lagercrantz has taken the Millennium series from Stieg Larrson and made it his own while staying true to the original author’s style and continuing the exciting and wonderful characters. Cannot wait for the next installment to see what awaits Lisbeth and Mikael.

Salander Missing

Lagercrantz could be Larsson's twin from a writing stand point remaining true to the feel of the original. The only problem is that he seems to have forgotten that Lisbeth Salander is the big draw here. In Eye, it is like Salander is making a guest appearance in somebody else's book. Too bad because Lagercrantz writes her well and when she is involved, there is usually a significant increase in the story's energy. The exception is the anti-climatic ending where Lisbeth not only does not get an eye-for-an-eye, she demurs to the literary equivalent of our action hero dialing 911.

Weak Compared to the Previous Books

An underwhelming story lacking excitement and suspense compared to the rest of the series. Hard to imagine but I found this story boring.

Story continues to unfold

I have to say I have been pleasantly surprised at the level of writing that continues the Lisbeth story. It has all the same feel to it with just slight differences that you find yourself thinking he wouldn't have said it that way, etc.
Story is fast paced, fills in some gaps and is overall worth the read.

Disappointing.

Weak. Disappointing. Far fetched. Very little action from Salander. They lost me at book 5.

It felt like the first part of a bigger story.

The story felt like it was just starting and then it ended! I wanted more!
