About this listen
When Angela was young, before she came to realize she had a rare ability, she was a rather ordinary girl. At least, that was what everyone said. But Angela is anything but ordinary. The daughter of a meth addict, she is convinced she was born a freak. Haunted by an abusive childhood, she was forced to become a woman far too soon. And in the process, she became more.
Angela juggles multiple jobs to live a secluded life in a cabin in the mountains. But she also lives a secret life, right under everyone's noses. Because her family's bloodline carries the ability to recognize killers, she adopts a solitary, violent existence in service of her own, personal mission in life. When Angela unexpectedly finds herself the prey of a group of international terrorists, she is the only one who knows the truth of what they are about to do. She might look like an unlikely hero. She might also be our only hope.

Story
From the internationally best-selling author of the Sword of Truth series comes a new Richard and Kahlan novella. "They are the monsters under the bed when you are little, the shape just caught out of the corner of your eye when you thought you were alone, the shadow of something in a dark corner that surprises you and then isn't there. They stop you dead with a knot of unexpected terror in the pit of your stomach. I think that the star shift has brought us closer to their realm so that they now have the power to step into our world and hurt us."

John Wayne Cleaver is dangerous, and he knows it. He's obsessed with serial killers, but really doesn't want to become one. So for his own sake, and the safety of those around him, he lives by rigid rules he's written for himself, practicing normal life as if it were a private religion that could save him from damnation. Dead bodies are normal to John. They don't demand or expect the empathy he's unable to offer. Perhaps that's what gives him the objectivity to recognize that there's something different about the body the police have just found behind the Wash-n-Dry Laundromat - and to appreciate what that difference means.

They stop you dead with a knot of unexpected terror in the pit of your stomach. I love the Sword of Truth series so of course I wanted to give this a try. Boy I had no idea what I was getting into, but I loved it!! I am hoping there will be another one with the same characters. I love the idea of super predators and people who can see it in their eyes.

Dark Excellence!
A gripping story that embraces the dark side of humanity in a vivid, visceral way. Started listening last night and finished today. I love the audible books with enthralling stories brought to life by gifted narrators. This is one of those stories. An excellent story with the opportunity to become a fascinating series. I’m hoping to hear that there’s more to come!

interesting storyline, but.....
so much repetitive narrative that it was excruciatingly redundant. super creative and descriptive, but...probably better as a physical book than audio. then I could skip thru all the repeat information and broken record. can't do that with audio while I'm driving. 😰

Bad Ass
After going through several classics, this book had me hooked. pre 1800 classics had me bored to tears. just a warning if any of you have been raped, delt with rape, or been abused by men listen with extreem caution. if you hate those who abuse, rape, or take advantage of women, if you wanted sweet revenge; the girl in the moon gets endless amounts of it.

Think Deaths Mistress
Think Deaths Mistress and the Mother Confessor had a love child in the Modern day. Loved this book the way I loved Wizards first rule the first time I read it 20 years ago. Angela is a character that needs many more books written about her. Goodkind developed her in a way that made her believably realistic that did not go need to go full fantasy or full comic book. It’s an amazingly well written and should one day get a movie franchise build around Angela. She is better character than the girl with the dragon tattoo. Amazing work Terry! I have read all your books and Faith of the Fallen was your masterpiece. Angela is your new work greatest work! Please continue to build this series!!
