In the midst of a Manhattan snowstorm, Hammer halts the violent robbery of a pair of college sweethearts who have stumbled onto a remarkable archeological find in the Valley of Elah: the perfectly preserved femur of what may have been the biblical giant Goliath. Hammer postpones his marriage to his faithful girl Friday, Velda, to fight a foe deadlier than the mobsters and KGB agents of his past: Islamic terrorists and Israeli extremists bent upon recovering the relic for their own agendas.
Completed after Spillane's death by his frequent collaborator, Max Allan Collins, this thriller is as classic as Spillane's own I, the Jury and as contemporary as The Da Vinci Code.

I am so glad I purchased this book as it was done after the Twin Towers were taken down instead of in the past.
Being more in the here and now made it pertinent to today’s problems yet gave the book a good old fashioned feel of good winning out over bad.
I loved that even though the detective was ready to retire, he had not lost his edge nor his ability to be one step ahead of the various and sundry bad guys.
Mikes steadfast love for Zelda never wavered and young love prevailed. Even through out the mystery.
The bottom line is this book had a little bit for everyone . Old,young or teenager would enjoy this book.
I recommend it highly.
