About this listen

The sparkling memoir of a movie icon's life in the footlights and on camera, The Good, the Bad, and Me tells the extraordinary story of Eli Wallach's many years dedicated to his craft. Beginning with his early days in Brooklyn and his college years in Texas, where he dreamed of becoming an actor, this book follows his career as one of the earliest members of the famed Actors Studio and as a Tony Award winner for his work on Broadway.

Wallach has worked with such stars as Marlon Brando, Paul Newman, Marilyn Monroe, Gregory Peck, and Henry Fonda. His many movies include The Magnificent Seven, How the West Was Won, the iconic The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, and, most recently, Mystic River. For more than 50 years, Eli Wallach has held a special place in film and theater. And in a tale rich with anecdotes, wit, and remarkable insight, he recounts his magical life in a world unlike any other.

Wanted to hear more about Tuco

I wanted to hear more about The Good, The Bad and The Ugly since that’s the main reason I’m a fan of Eli Wallach. Unfortunately very little time was spent talking about the movie in this book but I still enjoyed it overall.

classic eli

I loved this book. I fell in love with eli Wallach's work as a boy. the good the bad and the...him, was a riveting performance to my 8 year old mind. I always wondered what made eli embody tucco. now I know. this book left me wishing I had discovered it as a younger man. I may have pursued the method and would no doubt be an Oscar winner today if I had. Great book!

Amazing man.. Amazing Life!

Eli takes you on a full journey of his boyhood life, marriage, on stage and on the big screen. His acting speaks for itself. Him reading his own story in his own words was like having a close friend for coffee and a long talk. He shares many grand memories on move sets and back stage that I’ve never heard before. How nice this book must be for his family to hear over and over. I really enjoyed this audio book and actually teared up when it ended. Eli lived to be 98 and passed in 2014 but his work and these words will live on forever.

A wonderful story by an amazing talent and human being

At 80 you still here the artist in his narration of his own life. You fall in love with his wife and the life of an actor. A wonderful experience of a book!
