When attorney Marcus Glenwood resigns from his prestigious corporate law firm to retreat to the small town of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, and rebuild his life after a devastating personal tragedy, he has no idea that the biggest, most emotionally trying case of his entire career is about to fall into his backyard.
It is a fragile and spiritually wounded Glenwood who first meets his distraught clients, Alma and Austin Hall. Their daughter, Gloria, has disappeared in China while investigating the slavelike labor practices of a factory owned by the international giant New Horizons, the world's largest manufacturer of sports shoes and athletic gear. Moved and persuaded by Alma's pleading, Marcus agrees to take their case. But he cannot know how quickly his investigation will begin to untangle a web of greed and deceit stretching from Washington D.C., across international borders - or how desperately his former law colleagues will try to prevent him from uncovering the truth.

I searched for more like this from this author!!
Great story, good drama, great characters.
Can't say enough about this legal drama, except I wish the author did more modern day works like this (only found "Elixir"; the rest are historical, and not my fav.).
Recommend this book!!!
Wonderful book!

The Great Divide isn’t just a courtroom drama, it’s a social observation, a light on human rights issues that still exist in China to this day (18 years after its publication), and a redemption story all wrapped into one.
Narration is great too - if there was ever a male born to read for a living- this dude is it. He shows a surprisingly good range of characters considering his voice is the bell weather for all male voices - deep, resonant and amazing.
Overall - I can’t imagine anyone NOT enjoying this book and/or performance.
A Courtroom Drama to Truly Enjoy

What made the experience of listening to The Great Divide the most enjoyable?
The story line was intriguing with both law and personal stories interwoven.Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Yes. I found myself thinking throughout the day of the case and evidence.Which scene was your favorite?
The ending of course!Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Cry. Can't say anymore or I would reveal too much.Any additional comments?
It is great to hear a book that isn't filled with profanity and sex. The situations are real and representative of society with out smut. A great book.Captivating and clean
