Having served in both Desert Storm and OIF III I found this book very comprehensive. I was extremely pleased to hear about the extensive build up to tensions in the Middle East and equally happy that the book explored the climate after Desert Storm and well into OIF. What I would have liked to hear more about would have been the personal feelings of the Soldiers and Marines on the ground, how they believed they were going up against a battle hardened army while the vast majority of us had never seen combat. We were collectively shittin' our DCUs. I also would have liked to explore President Obama's decision to pull out of Iraq in 2011 and it's repercussions in the region. Otherwise the book was very complete.

Extremely well researched

Very informative and not boring . The voice was appeasing and I learned a lot I didn’t know without it being biased or confusing

Very informative

I learned more than I expected! Dr. Allison provided thoughtful context and analysis that helped me understand the war and its strategic environment. I will keep this and reference it in the future.

Consice and Insightful

He does a great job on explaining about the history of Iraq and major players and the success and failure of the war.

great summary of the events before, during and after

The narrator performed splendidly. My critique is more on the author. There is A LOT of great information here, the flow of the book went well as well however the author’s reluctance to speak plainly for a majority of the book at times using far more words than necessary, seemed forced and required me to reread a few times.

I learned a lot about the war and the conflict that led up to it, though many of the themes, motivations and characters in the story were presented in a very black and white (great person, bad person) kinda thing. this was a slight annoyance to me but I still learned a lot by finishing the book.

good info but felt like a slightly biased lens

One thing I caught in this book was “B-52’s from Lackland AFB in Louisiana” what? That would be Barksdale AFB. After that I couldn’t help wondering what else was poorly researched.

Accurate?
