Publisher's summary

Skye Mackenzie has dealt with the supernatural most of his life, but he's never before encountered the likes of the adventure that is about to descend upon him. An oddly attired, unconscious boy appears in Graymoor Mansion at the same time a horrific storm begins. When the boy awakens, Marshall, Skye, and the others discover that their visitor is from another world - a world where elves walk, dragons fly, and fairies are real.

While Marshall searches for a way to return Wuffa to his world, he discovers an ancient prophecy which explains the boy's appearance and mentions Marshall and Skye by name. Not only must Marshall and Skye find a way to return Wuffa to his own world, but they must discover the hiding place of the Heart of Graymoor and return it to Graymoor Mansion to keep the forces of darkness from destroying two worlds.

only ok

disappointed in this one. repetitive, could have lost a few chapters. the premise itself was enjoyable, just mishandled in my opinion.

Well Done

What did you love best about The Heart of Graymoor?

It was an interesting story. I don't usually read fantasy stuff, but this was pretty good. By far my favorite book by Mark Roeder.

story was fairly repetative

story over all was good, but rather repetative at times, I felt like the book would have been shorter if he didn't have to repeat or over explain certain things

Skye's adventures in fantasy world

What made the experience of listening to The Heart of Graymoor the most enjoyable?

Characters and story are very sympathetic. Wuffa's narration, given what the character has to say, rocks!

Who was your favorite character and why?

I don't think I can choose between Skye and Wuffa. All of the story is told from Skye's perspective, and he has his own personality, yet Wuffa's narration gives much to the audiobook - his shocked/lamenting statements give the whole experience a lot.

What about Robert G. Davis’s performance did you like?

I totally love his Wuffa's narration! Overall, the rest is not bad although there are some points where other characters and I do recall having to revind at some points because on few occasions I had difficulty understanding the word, but I totally dig Wuffa's narration! I would wish I could hope for more stories with Wuffa narrated by Davis, although sadly it does not seem likely anytime soon, because there are no other books with Wuffa as of yet... and probably won't be for quite some time, and I don't know if Davis will be available then...

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Strangely, most emotional part (or two parts) occur at the very end of the story, one even in epilogue. Although epilogue gives happy ending of sorts, it has it's own very strong point. t's difficult to write about it, without spoiling it.
There are some other points, where certainly there are things to laugh about, and some other saddening moments, but none of it compares to the end of the book.

Any additional comments?

Story does close number of avenues for sequels, though opens some. I'm looking to hearing the rest of the narrations of books written by Mark A. Roeder, although only minority of his books are narrated as of yet... so will probably end with e-books mostly. Another notable point is that this book does not contain sex, and may thus be accessible to greater audience - there is gay aspect yes, but it's good fantasy book, too.

A great book to get lost in

This has been a great way to just lose myself. Found that I could just spend hours listening to this book. Mark has a real talent for writing. This was my second time listening and I'm sure it won't be the last. I have listened to and read many of Mark's books and I will continue to listen to more as well as listen to them again and again over the rest of my life.

Good Story, Unfortunate Narration

I like the story but the narration is condescending and childish. I couldn't listen for long before getting disgusted and leaving it.
