About this listen

Are you fascinated by the enigmatic country of Argentina? Do you want to know all about this huge and diverse land and its history? Would you like to visit it one day and experience it for yourself?

Argentina is a vast land that occupies a huge area of South America and boasts of jungles, plains, deserts, mountains, swamps, and a hundred other environments. While the land itself is impressive, the history of it is just as extraordinary. From pre-Columbian times to its discovery by European adventurers, it has had its share of highs and lows and continues to make its mark today.

This fascinating audiobook The History of Argentina: An Intriguing Look at This Marvelous Country paints a picture of a country that continues to confound and impress in equal measure, with chapters that cover:

  • Pre-European settlement
  • The colonization of the area
  • How the nation was born
  • The Argentine Civil War
  • How its politics were shaped and changed
  • The Peron era
  • The military Juntas
  • And more...

Since 1983, Argentina has enjoyed freedom from the oppressive military rule she endured in the late '70s and early '80s, which eventually resulted in the disastrous campaign in the Malvinas. But corruption and exploitation continue to shadow successive governments, and with inflation running rife, the future of the nation is anything but secure.

If you have always been captivated by the often surprising country of Argentina, then The History of Argentina is an audiobook that will improve your understanding of where it fits in the world today and how it got there.

Not enough new details

Focused way too much on 16th century and hardly anything on 21st century hard to believe

Not helpful

A recitation of names and dates that are impossible to follow. Not helpful in forming an overall picture of the general history of Argentina

Worst narration

I could not even go pass the introduction. This is the worst narrated book I ever listened to. Narrator obviously has no idea how to correctly enunciate Spanish words. Painful to listen to.
